Wow, sounds like they'll be missing a whole bunch of players. We must aim for the full three points from them.
Oh my God.
Kilbane only on the bench for Hull v Burnley (2-0 down at HT) with McShane starting. Preston 4-2 down v Leeds at HT with St Ledger and Treacy playing. Ouch. Hull now 4-0 down but Treacy has scored for Preston (3rd goal) and now Preston have scored 2 more to lead 5-4.

I can watch the second half of some game in the EPL, anything worthwhile with an Irish slant?
Duff major doubt for both games after limping off today with 20 mins left.
You should have started with - 'don't shoot the messenger but ....'
Disaster. Simple as that
St Ledger took a heavy knock to his knee, left the ground with it heavily strapped up.
Treacy played really well, but left the field with a groin strain.
Long worked hard and looked good.
Noel Hunt came on and was lively.
I can't believe Iron man Duff is hurt.
O'Shea had an excellent game for United today at left back. Best I've seen him play for awhile. I'd be very worried if St Ledger was injured as that opens the real possibilty of McShane partnering Dunne. Russia's main threat comes up the left so I can't see Trap not playing O'Shea at Right back under any circumstances.
I didn't think O'Shea was outstanding. He dealt with what little Sunderland offered on the right but his lack of game time at left full showed when he went forward and when he was a little apprehensive to tuck in when needed in the first half. I think Dunne is capable of taking care of McShane at this point -they've looked good any time they've played in the centre together.
Seems like the whole situation is going to be a "Wait and see."
Duffer saying he can play. (Of course he can).
Damien Duff is essential. He can do things other Irish players can't do ie read a game like a manager. I've watched a few Spartak Moscow matches and have been very impressed by McGeady's performances but I would still choose Duff. He is simply a slightly better all round player. But if he cannot play then Aidan McGeady's time is here.
I was at the matches against the USSR and the Sovitet Union in the 70's and 80's (geysir and a fair few others as well). Listen. They regard us as better than them. They have never met anybody from FF so that probably explains it. I have had a fair few gargles and yet I fully understand that we must win@ I must explain. No longer elect anybody from FF as theyt are compulsive liars. Ever.
Lawrence played right back in the second half for Portsmouth. Not that we're struggling in that area, I'm just saying is all.
According to the Irsh Times there is no major concern about Duff's availability. Ian Harte says he'd still like to be involved as well......

Wilson called up ahead of McCarthyQuote:
strange ireland press conference. duff and andrews both gone back to clubs injured, marc wilson called up. squad not in great shape
Though im happy Wilson is getting a look in, Traps apparent pettiness just gets worse and worse.
Talk about cutting off our nose to spite our face.

Glad for Wilson but McCarthys ommission is getting frustrating.
If those reports have some truth, it would appear Keith Treacy has shot his Ireland career in the foot.
I'd love to see McCarthy too, but it's a like-for-like with Andrews, Trap needs players he knows he can call on to execute his game plan from CM in a crucial qualifier. McCarthy's adventurousness instinct doesn't fit the occasion.
On the other hand if say, Fahey, dropped out and McCarthy still didn't find his way in, then I'd find it all the more frustrating...
but isnt Green already established as the like-for-like player with Gibson behind them already well versed in the Trap style? There is no reason not to have called up McCarthy to be part of the squad.
I wonder what the FAI makes of this. I think we're going to lose McCarthy.
Generally Trap has shown he's likes his midfielders in one mould - defensive and disciplined (with possible exception of Gibson, who has never quite impressed because of the system imo). It appears Trap can never have too many of them
It's a worry, but, as has been said before, he's come through dog's abuse to declare for us. I'd be surprised if he turned away now when, we're pretty sure (and hope to God), he's getting called up in November. Personally I'm giving it till then - if he doesn't appear for the Norway game, I'll start to panic.
He's not going anywhere lads. Cold as he might feel for being frozen out of Trap's plans, it's nothing compared to the barren vision of Siberia that is the Scottish national team.
Considering that Trap has said he (most probably) will get called up for the Norway game, if that is not good enough for James, then he was not good enough for us in the first place.
But IŽd expect him to answer the call for the Norway game.
He must think we're a nation of lunatics (we are). Can't step outside his front door without some Irish lad with a spud for a face questioning his commitment to the cause.
This is what you said:
"My point is this. He missed the last meaningful training camp. Trapattoni, in qualifier mode as I've already said, doesn't want to waste time teaching McCarthy the system. He's already on record saying that he'll be involved in November. He's already on record saying that Fahey and Green impressed and it'd be unfair to drop either. I'm not asking you to agree with Giovanni, I'm asking you to understand him. Capiche?"
So why, if in your opinion he's no better than 7th choice midfielder are you getting so frustrated by his continued omission?
Yes, he missed the training camp but you have to remember that he's only 19 and last season was his first season playing at the top level. He did travel over to get assessed by the team doctor so it's not like he just made a phonecall. If Trapattoni is holding this against him it's very petty.
