Dear God - who do the PFAI think is going to oppose Salthill?

Game is scheduled for tomorrow as far as i know.
The Salthill leg is due to be played tomorrow night.
Away in Galway on Tuesday. Then in Kildare on Fri/Sat I would have imagined. But as Kildare have no club, team, manager, kit etc. I doubt it will get played.
Typical - can't go friday and think I just might go to a different football match on saturday.
Truly this league is the greatest in the world.
Fixtures were set as follows:
Salthill Devon v Kildare County, Drom, 7.45pm, Tuesday Nov 10
Kildare County v Salthill Devon, Station Road, 8pm, Friday Nov 13
Devon have been told game is going ahead
Would love if the game went ahead, just to use it as one last chance to say goodbye to the club. Would be an emotional game though no doubt.
If all was well in Kildare and Derry City are relegated to the A Championship then the playoffs are not needed.
Isnt the fact that Bray are spared instant relegation not the same????
Sorry to see Kildare go this way, if the FAI are pumping €4 million into RTE to put on MNS then we need to look at other options such as internet highlights rather than putting money into RTE, after all they're not giving a good enough service and it seems to be only LOI fans that watch it anyway... which says €4 million for no benefit to the league if you ask me.... an internet highlights show sounds like the way to go if you ask me......
€4 million could have gone a long way towards stabilising alot of clubs... Kildare, Cobh, Derry etc.
Time for the FAI to have a long look at developing a strategy towards stabilising the league as a 16 or 20 team league and then putting in a North and South type feeder comp. like in England...
I'll be up around Drom tomorrow evening playing 5 a side.If Kildare are REALLY desperate for players we can stick on a jersey for them:rolleyes:.
They are confirmed as being kicked out of the league, though, which is the point - it's Derry who are being replaced by Salthill, and so a play-off makes no sense. kildare are reprieved from relegation the same way Bray were.
There have been statements from FAI officials saying that they hope that Derry can take a place in the First Division next year so it's not cut and dried.
In reality, Derry are unlikely to still be in business for next season so it's immaterial.
Just to add to that last year we lost to Mervue in the playoff but re-entered when Cobh were denied a licence.
As of now Derry are not in the First Division.
So therefore we'll all be in Drom Tuesday night....
If all the rumours about the A Championship being scrapped are true, it makes even less sense. Of course then you'd end up with an 18-team First Division (if Derry and Kildare both pull through), which would have to re-adjusted this time next year.
The Board of Management of Kildare County F.C. regrets to announce that the Club has played its last game. Since the resignation of former members earlier this season, the remaining personnel of the Board of Management have worked night and day to try and resolve the Club’s problems.
Surely that means tomorrow's game is off?
Not if the FAI and PFAI get their way!
Is there no way Kildare could play on in the 'A' Championship. Alot of their away games would be around Dublin, so travel expenses would be down. Do ye have to pay much rent for Station Road? Is there any other local pitches in Kildare Town where ye could base?
I had really hoped Kildare would survive. Surely if they can play tomorrow, then they can play in some other form at a lower level next year?
If we were to play in the A Championship, what hope would we ever have of paying the debts of the past 7 years off? The club is gone into liquidation because it has no money left, no money coming in, and alot of debts/expenses.
Thats a real shame, ye will be missed. The thought of 3 Galway City teams is shivering
My Dad apparently heard on the radio that tommorow nights game is going ahead.
Kildare County F.C. today informed the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) that the club is not in a position to fulfill the relegation / promotion play-off matches, originally scheduled for Tuesday and Friday of this week.
As a result of today’s decision, Salthill Devon will have been deemed to have won promotion from the Newstalk A Championship into the League of Ireland First Division, pending the licencing process.
Aw. I was kind of hoping I'd get to play.
Absolute disgraceful that Kildare's plight wasn't recoginsed on MNS. The question should have been put to Fran, what plans are in place to prevent smaller First Division clubs (no offence intended) like Kildare to survive
Game is definetly not going ahead tomorrow despite statements from FAI today saying it is.
I didn't see MNS but I am dissappointed but not surprised to hear this.
can i ask where are people getting the idea that the A champoinship is to be scraped, this i think is just wishful thinking
With 3 teams from Galway City in the LOI how will this effect Galway Utd re players or will you still get the best of the Galway youths playing for the club. Both Mervue and Salthill have wonderful youth set up's. Would it be wise for Galway Utd to approach other Youth clubs in the City (ie Barna, Corrib Celtic/Rangers) to come on board as the youth wing of Galway Utd.
