That was a club legend / league legend thing IIRC.
He was a part of allegedly the most notorious booze-loving team we ever had under Zac as player/manager. Heysham was/is a Muslim and used to get hammered along with the rest of the lads on the bus on the way home from matches. Then he'd apparently break down crying at the shame he felt for going against his religious beliefs!. He'd get over it by having a few more cans. Definite cult hero.
Stephen Caffrey
Paul Byrne
Lee King
Mindaugus Kalonas
can't remember if he's been mentioned before or not, but Gavin Dykes-mainly for his ability to hoof nearly every second ball over the stands...think everyone in Treacy Ave/Maugheraboy would have least one ball from a match he played in over the years.... :)
Trevor Vaughan
The boys on Dundalk were always some craic about him!
Shielo
After tonights performance, John Flood
Not my team but Sligo Legend ... Johnny Hoakes. Used to spend all day cycling up and down JFK Parade
and then strutting around Equinox telling all the ladies he was a super star
Ah, that quickfire wit, poster.
Longford
Sean Prunty - great servant to the Town
Dave Mooney - Goal scoring machine
Dillo and Garto - great partnership
kirbs - Cup hero
Dessie Baker - always gave his all.
and had the likes of deegan stayed longer I think he could have been on that list , last season victor was a bit of a crowd favorite too :)

Can't seem to see it on this thread but there was another thread with the same title a while back and someone posted something like,
Still one of my favourite posts.Quote:
Gareth Farrelly.
Oh...'cult...'
Not forgetting Tommy Keane but Chick and Mags were some cult heroes.
Sean Connor was a cult.
