Anyone flying out friday the 4th with Cyprus Airways from Manchester?
I'm on easyjet Gatwick to Larnaca on the friday and the connecting aer lingus flight from Dublin.
Is anyone heading back on the Monday the 7th or Tuesday 8th September. Trying to find flights and the best one is to fly to Dussledorf and onto Dublin. Is anyone else on this flight. The flight times getting out of Cyprus a pain. Are there any better flight even out of Nicosia?
Heading home Monday morning via manchester @ 0950 with Cyprus Airways
Anybody on the thompson air (falcon) from dublin on sun-sun?
Anyone staying in Larnaca interested is sharing a taxi/mini bus too and from the game?? There are two of us travelling so the more the merrier........
Hi there, we have a ten seater minibus going from Larnaca to Nicosia and back after the game, there are 8 of us so room for 2 more.
Contact me if you are interested, expect to leave Larnaca around 1800 hrs, ko is 2130 local time, and straight back afterwards,
Judging by the posts for this match most people seem to be heading to Ayia Napa. Is there a bus organised to get to and from the game or are people just getting taxis to Nicosia for the match. If buses are being organised is there any space available on them for 2 people or does anyone have details. Booked everything over the weekend getting to the game is the last obstacle. Does anyone know the distance from Ayia Napa to Nocosia?
Don't worry most pubs will run buses to the game.
I hear that 747 have scrapped their proposed charter, I reckon that is the end of any agents runing charters for Ireland games in the near future.
Not that i ever travel with them but they were the last of the travel operators doing a trip.
Is the great Gerry MacMahon not doing any trips this time. Him and Luke Kellys Bar ripped off the punters big time the last two trips and then off course you had lovely Jimmy out of the Bhoys Bar and his "Aslan Money".
Gerry McMahon ravel went bust a few years ago.
Celtic Horizons stopped doing trips last year.
As G Spain said there would be a demand for fair priced trips but from my understanding the operators expect to make a 20% profit on a 66% occupied plane.
Obviously they only pay for the rooms actually used, but to me that seems very excessive margins, a 20% margin on a 90% occupation would seem to be far more reasonable.
Cyprus hotels probably avearge €40pp pn, 3 nights €120 add 4 transfers airport / hotel / match and ret @ €10 each €40 and €350 for flights would give a total of €510, compared to the €800 or so sought by the operators.
I recokon they would have filled a plane at €600 all in for 3 nights.
Anyone know what happened the ybig planned charter?
The margins were always much higher than say your package holiday to Spain.
I'm sure there was a lot of hassle dealing with drunk fans etc.
747 also had a habit of staying off the beaten track and busing fans in for games. I've ehard stories of horrendous bus trips. No doubt there was a cut price deal in these cases.
Treacy still does trips but only for regulars. These are at the luxury end of the market - high price and high service.
Once you plan in advance it is always much cheaper to do these trips yourself. Travel agents are handy for those who don't want to do legwork or who decide to go last minute.
For the first time since 1994 FIFA have allocated a chunk of World Cup tickets to travel agents. If we do make it I wonder who will take up the opportunity.
agree about the hotel locations and that proves the greed factor, as the hotel is the cheapest part of the package..
Sod them.Quote:

U.K Airports plan strikes this weekend
It has been reported that strikes are planned at Gatwick, Manchester, and Stansted air*ports this weekend.
Virgin Atlantic, Delta, Thomson, Flybe, and Monarch flights will be affected at London's Gatwick Airport. The airport's management and owners said any disruption will be kept to a minimum.
Flights from Manchester Airport will be affected by a strike beginning Thursday. Etihad Airways, Emirates, Virgin Atlantic, and Monarch flights could be delayed or cancelled. Officials at Manchester are also reassuring passengers and said "major disruption is unlikely" and encouraged people to travel to the airport as usual.
No official strike action will take place at London's Stansted Airport until at least next Tuesday because workers at that airport must give seven days notice of industrial action and no notice has yet to be issued. If the strike at Stansted goes ahead as planned, flights with Ryanair, Monarch, and Thomson could be disrupted.
A strike at Liverpool's John Lennon Airport is ongoing. However, extra staff has been added to minimize disruption.
We will endeavour to keep you updated on any further news we receive
I hope that no-one is flying with Sky from Vienna, had looked at that route but flight times were crap.
They ceased flying today.
