The US are hosting the tournament, and they have started well, but because the Confederations Cup has just been played, they are fielding what is essentially a B team. That doesn't mean that there are no senior players there, but I'd question this team's ability to beat Mexico in the knock-out rounds.
Example: No Donovan, Dempsey, Beasley, Spector, Bocanegra, Howard, or Hahnemann, among others.
Mexico have the stronger squad, but the US have home field advantage. I'll be hoping Canada can add another Gold Cup to the collection.
