I think using the word reluctant is wrong, their approach isn't the same as it is to a Group stage CL game or whatever, but thats simply down to the interest, if for example they got 500k viewers watching Drogheda tonight, then next year or if drogheda got to QR3 I'm sure their coverage would be better. They put limited resources to it, based on what they are getting back. RTE is a business at the end of the day, its not a charity. Its there to provide Entertainment to the masses.Quote:

Going slightly off topic but do TV3 provide their own footage for the GAA games or is it still done by RTE? Just wondering as TV3 have always claimed they did not have the outside broadcast resources.
I am surprised that Setanta have not picked up the rights to some of the less glamourous European games in recent years given their at times threadbare schedules.
I think the best RTE excuse over the years was when they claimed that they could not show a Uefa Cup game as did not have the rights to the remainder of the competition. I may be mistaken but I think around the same time they had lost the CL rights but still showed qualifying rounds for Celtic or Manchester United.
