Did you watch the game? Wasn't exactly a world class performance was it?

I watched the game and he played ok. Scored the vital goal and created the third so not a bad day at the office overall. Scoring goals and winning is what it is about at the end of the day. Ronaldo and Portugal did that.
Dunphy along with a few other haters in the media will probably claim he tripped over the ball and that is why the ball went in instead of giving the guy any credit whatsoever.
Play a round of golf/walk the dog/go to the pub or watch dvd's of international friendlies?? :)
It was an effective performance.
He scored a very good goal and he did very well to, unselfishly, set up Quaresma's goal.
Next time I see him I'll tell him your not convinced Jebus!!! :D
Top scorer in the CL this season. Scored in the final of the CL + played well, particularly in the first half (much to the dismay of his critics who said he can only get a goal against mediocre opposition in meaningless games). What else? 42 goals in a season, not bad for a player who isn't your traditional centre forward.
What else does the guy have to do to win over his critics? It really perplexes me that he still has his doubters.
Bar the goal in the Final he didn't do much, particularly after the first half where he disappeared yet again. CL top scorer with 8 in what was a poor top scorers chart (Gerrard was second for instance). He may not be a traditional centre forward in the sense of a Shearer or Van Nistelrooy, but does play the Thierry Henry role for United, he's certainly not a winger. Now maybe if he had a few better tricks and a bit more class, like Thierry Henry, people would stop having doubts, as it is any time I see him in an important game he's mostly useless.
The game that summed up Ronaldo and the media hype for me was when United beat Arsenal 2-1 in the title run in. Clichy had Ronaldo in his pocket the whole afternoon, but because Ronaldo scored a penalty the papers give him an 8/10 and United fans fail to take off the red tinted specs again
If Ronaldo was ginger and was pug ugly and did not dive people would have not have their doubts about him. His problem with some people is his star quality and the way he reacts if the play breaks down or there is a misplaced pass.
PLeat is my favourite co-commentator.
the real reason why people on here don't rate Ronaldo is that he plays for Man Utd in the Premier League and so all the armchair fans rave about him. If he played in Spain or Italy everyone on here would rate him as one of the best players in the world.
He is also not as bad as other people make him out to be.
The truth about Ronaldo is that he is one of Europe's top wingers/attacking midfielders.... shall we all agree?
No one is proclaiming him to be the next Pele, Maradona or Zidane (well I'm certainly not.....especially at this stage of his career) but like you say he is in the top 3 at this moment in time.
If he continues his rich vein of form into next season then he will challenge for the best player in the world mantle. He's 23, still learning and a good way off his peak. Henry was 22 I think when he moved to Arsenal and it took him 2/3 years before he really hit top gear.
