No, after 2 years they will have been heavily scouted. If they have not been offered a contract by a British club then they are preumably less able than the swathes of other players being signed, some of whom are hardly setting the world alight.

ok it seems it was me who wasnt initially clear enough. I agree with you on all of your points and it's fair to say that if the guys in the LOI were northern Irish I think they'd get games for the north. alas not so for the south. which is hard to reconcile as the north are doing better than us. I don't have all the answers - no one does to that conundrum.
otherwise I agree with you totally - it would be a boost to see more LOI players in the squad/team and thats frustrating for the fans (us)
everyone comes at it from different ways but the result is the same.. we'd all like to have half a dozen guys playing at home that we could see on a regular basis in the league representing us internationally and doing well. it's just a shame it isn't happening as quick as we'd like.
On the continent: Cas and hartey werent really that high in regard when they went abroad and i think cas got more into the team towards the end of his career (brief indian summer). The real test is if a major player went abroad. didn't do brady, aldridge or stapo any harm.
if mcgeady or someone goes to spain I bet they'd still get a game for ireland.
I think fahey is a great player.anyone in any doubt should go down and watch him play. n fact I reckon he'd benifit from having better players round him. who cares if he isnt considered good enough to be in an Ireland squad. they have been atrocious for the best part of two years.
