I'm Tiger Woods
Interesting interview with Owen Garvan in the Indo today. I'm fully expecting him to be a big player for us in years to come and show Ciaran's initial post on this thread to be the cluleless waffle it obviously is.....

Mods, should this be used as the Owen Garvan thread? If so maybe remove the 'obsessive' from the title......
I personally think that John O Shea is the finest Irish defender since Paul McGrath.
Good interview.
I think this quote says a lot about the lads attitude and ambition. I hope he plays his way into the 28.
"People say you're young and you've played a lot, but football is a short career and I want to do the best I can, to play in the Irish team and play in the Premier League."
I didnīt get the bit in the article where it alluded to problems he had with McCaffrey but that it was McCaffrey who brought him into the u21 team.
Anyway he looks a good player and more power to him
I am from Letterkenny in the County of Donegal. I hope that dispells any myths.
is that you danny????...it is isn't it
Like the look of Owen Garvan he has a sweet left foot and is good at set pieces (something Ireland can always do with) and is a good distributor of the ball from deep in midfield (again something we desperately need as Carsley can't pass the ball to save his life). However I'm worried about 2 things:
1. He doesn't quite score enough goals from midfield. 2 or 3 a season in all competitions is not good enough imo for a top midfield player unless they are purely a defensive player (which Garvan isn't).
2. More worryingly he looks to be very slow, a big disadvantage if he tries to make the step up to the Premier League.
Lack of pace and lack of goals doesn't seem to be a problem for Pirlo so I wouldn't worry about that with Garvan. For a creative player Garvan is playing deep in midfield much earlier than most, particularly in England. Even Pirlo started off as an attacking midfielder. At least Garvan's over 6 foot which is probably more important than pace given the rest of our players.
Garvan has been offered a new two year extension by Jim Magilton.
Seems to be a fair bit of premiership interest in him.
Two right footed strikes by Garvan today. 3rd and 4th of season, only got 3 last year.
Garvan just scored again. 40 yard free kick but don't think he meant it. This is his 100th appearance for Ipswich and he has bagged 5 goals already this season. Augurs well for a January premiership move

Definitely didn't mean it, but a good goal nonetheless
Just scored for Ipswich to put them 2-1 up in the FA Cup. Looks like he has belatedly re-established himself in RMK's team.
it was a free kick too. He came on as a sub after 50 or so minutes. Another irish failure.
