We are now BEHIND Galway and if we don't beat them we are probably going to be in the play-off I have already worked out that beating Pat's is extremely unlikely. Bray only 1 point behind and Waterford only 3 points behind. If we don't pick up any points, and the others do we are in the play-off. Am I being Alarmist now or REALISTIC?

What would you prefer- go over across the water and say at the end of your career, "I played in England I did", or say "ah yeah stayed in Ireland, won a few medals".
Well ye might be able to say that this year. Longford are no jokers- definitely not the worst team in the league but not as good as us. Peform to your potential and we'll have them. After that **** what the media say, **** reputations, **** full interntional caps, **** a 4-1 loss in their backyard. It's up to you lads- have your nice comfy like in England or have a battle and reach the top over here. Give us another 300 appearance legend, not the 50 add fella that ****ed away his career going to England thinking he was the dogs ******** and ending up playing in the reserves.
Best result next week is that Galway beat Waterford. That'll keep Waterford three points behind us with an impossible goal difference to overturn.
Even if we lose both games, Waterford would have to get 4 points from their last two games to catch us. I don't think that's likely. I don't intend thinking about the league for another few days anyway, there's much more important matters to worry about first.

Hopefully, if we survive next season's cull, then we can start to do much better with fewer crap teams in the league!
I wonder is it a question of motivation or did those games come at particularly bad times with reagrds to injuries and suspensions? Also, would the number of home and away games against each opponent changing around have affected things?
We had Drogheda, Derry and Bohs away twice this year, which makes those results even more impressive. We had Longford and Bray at home twice.
We're seven points worse off than last season with only six points remaining up for grabs, so effectively we have gone backwards league wise this season.
And ye wonder why other fans find yere arrogance unbelieveable. One of the websites gave the wrong score in the waterford game at half time so everybody in Terryland thought waterford were one up until 20 mins from the end and you would want to see how worried the UCD Players were before the score came through.It should have been 4-1 at half time only for Quigley.Quote:

Most of us felt safe weeks ago that on the basis if we somehow managed to pick up no points for the remainder of the season we still had enough points to probably stay up. it should have been 4 or 5 at half time with 6 first teamers missing and how many points have ye taken off us all season 2. UCD were very lucky as there wasnt a hope in hell of them beating any team in the playoffs they were brutal last night and looked a team doomed to relegation.
Just for the record how many UCD fans were there because I didnt see one UCD Jersey and the only supporters I saw were Noel King and a few other parents of players.
For record, I think most Galway fans will admit that gufct is a bit of an over-reactor, often getting into rows with their fans and gets bees into his bonnet very easily. I don't think his views hold much weight here, to be honest.
We switched off seven weeks ago - stupid thing to do, but the season's over now. At least we know that we're better than where we finished this season and, with three going down next year, we won't be in a position to switch off so soon and will have to keep going to the end. This at least gives us a bit of a boost over the likes of Bray and Galway, whose positions are more reflective of their strengths.
It is of course worrying that we couldn't beat a First Division club with 10½ players (Wes Charles is one of the worst players I have ever seen in the league, and doesn't count as one player), but that's life. Last night was a open game between two poor teams - entertaining in the way a Superleague game is entertaining. Galway's defenders were comically bad under any sort of pressure, as were ours. Quigley merely did what we pay him to do, and any talk of "should have been 3 or 4" is pure speculation based, as dmanetc noted, on the premise that we didn't have Quigley in nets. If we had a decent forward, we would have easily gotten a point at least as Sammon and Byrne passed up a lot of good openings.
I wasn't counting our fans, so I don't know. I was there in my UCD jersey, so you obviously weren't looking that hard. Titan was there, met Maccer and various other Sherros.
Did you ever hear the expression never count your chickens until they are hatched? So it should be with league points, don't count them till they are in the bag and on the table next to your clubs name.Quote:
