Is that really necesarry? Are you trying to get me upset? There, are some, I have to admit, striking resemblances though. Both have scored hat tricks at international level agianst teams worse than Ireland. Both have prolific scoring records in the 2nd tier. Both played for Wolves, Sunderland, Leicester, and West Ham. I expect Wolves will have only a fraction of the interest shown in Sunderland last season, despite having at least as many Irish players worth keeping an eye on.
Good business by McCarthy. He has a young player proven at Championship level, but he also has enough forwards not to be dependent on Elliott.
I look forward to seeing him fit and playing upfront in the middle where he belongs.
He may only be 4th or 5th in the Irish pecking order, even lower maybe, but he's still a potentially good option for us.
