FAI support Rovers for Tallaght

As one of my fellow Limerick fans already stated the comparisons between the Rovers situation and the Limerick situation just don't add up.

Rovers are in the process of fighting off our Gaelic overlords and the FAI should back them to the hilt, no question.

Limerick FC isn't being backed by the FAI because they want Danny Drew out of the club, simple as that. If Danny backed down as chairman I'm sure we'd get our licence, we may have **** all of a playing budget next year, but there would at least be a team. The FAI have stated that they would support a senior football team in Limerick, just not under our current owner.

I think the FAI are wrong to pursue personal vendettas against a club's chairman and hence damage our club, given that we are in the era of FAI Professionalism at all costs, but that said I've long been an advocate of getting rid of Danny as our chairman so it would be hypocritical of me to come out all guns blazing in favour of him now

I think all right thinking persons (soccer supp or not) should be assisting rovers in their fight in tallagh because this is not just about use of a stadia but about shafting one side of the sporting community to preserve the strenght of another.

Not so much an anti-Rovers thing as a pro-Richmond thing. For WWS, me or any Pats fan who wants us to stay in Richmond, the longer this thing drags on, the better from a Pats point of view, as it leaves the propect of us moving to Tallaght just as much a purely theoretical possibility as the prospect of us winning the cup.

In short, as long as Tallaght remains in limbo, we can't be moved there.

the delay suits my point of view

ultimately id be a strong supporter of rovers beating ThomasDavis, establishing themselves in Tallaght with Pats staying out and successfully lobbying for funds for richmond park

thus creating two strong community based teams on the southside - good for the league and good for football

the current delays in the project make delaneys startegy of pushing a second team for tallaght as less likely to be pats - with shels presumably favs

This is a nonsense arguement. While nobody is ruling out the FAI's plans to house a second Eircom League team in Tallaght in the future, it is highly unlikely that either Shels, Pats, or whoever will even begin to make moves towards sharing with us until at least a couple of years after we get established there. The current delays (thanks to the GAA) can be measured in months, and will ultimately have no bearing whatsoever on whether or not Pats will ever play there.

I couldn't give a toss about what your personel opinion of Rovers is, but as a league and football fan this move by the FAI can only be welcomed.
