Sean, I see that you are located in Preston, have you seen him play yet? Anything noteworthy?

I think your being blinkered to St Ledgers potential, true he's not a thoroughbred yet, but in time he could be jockeying for the CB position where we need a stable pairing. I also think Stan should have a look a Micheal Oakes of Wolves, for goalie cover, I think his granny is from Tralee.
Total paranoia. Staunton has already explained the hurdle McCarthy needs to jump to get in the squad - fair enough & I hope he does it.
St Ledger trained with the U21s about a year ago & claims he always wanted to play for Ireland & supported Ireland in USA 94.
Unfortunatley there appear too many people looking for a reason to have a whinge.
Well, what are you looking for, it seems a reasonable response to the question put to him! And I can recall others supporting England against Ireland before identifying their allegiance.
The point was made in response to the suggestion that he found his roots over the last weekend - which is not correct, though it seems you wish it were.
A lot of English people supported us in 94 cos their own team wasnt there
Micheal Oakes the former Villa keeper???
If it's the same guy, he's knockin around a while now. Must be 30 odd..
Can I be the first to give a nickname to our newest acquisition. As we need a new leader, who better to emulate than Irelands most famous lead(er) guitarist. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you, "the Ledge". I Will F'in Follow.
This is from this mornin's Indo:
Meanwhile, goalkeeping coach Kelly also gave a favourable endorsement of new boy Sean St Ledger, who figured at right back, having watched him on a couple of occasions in action with new club Preston North End prior to his call-up.
"I've been to see him a few times and been very impressed. I've spoken to his manager (Paul Simpson) and he's got man of the match in four of their six games so far this year," he said.
"It's been impressive how level-headed he has been and also how comfortable on the ball like an old-fashioned defender.
"Playing as a centre-half in the Championship you come up against more robust centre-forwards but he looks very assured from what I've seen so far.
"He's obviously got ticks in the most of the right boxes because that's why he's here."
I don't know if McCarthy is good enough but he has U21 & a full season of Championship behind him. Omitting a player for a few yellow cards seems particularly harsh.
St Ledger has been playing a low level so wouldn't have needed to commit fouls. Staunton said eL centre halfs (who have played against good european opponents) are not good enough so i fail to see how St Ledger is better.
pete - where did Staunton say that EL cente halfs aren't good enough?Cause he is wrong.
with all due respects, but I think it might be St Patrick we need!!
- im confident of the 1-0 upset. R keane 76th Min.
Just watching Big Ron Manager and this lad is on the team. He is an absolute horrible little sh!t. A disrespectful arrogant tw@t.
