the un valued members of the forum??who decides which is which? you???

if football is to go anywhere in this country the aim should be to find out why people are so disillusioned that they are abandoning the national team. not to just dismiss them as "not true" supporters. I might not agree with them but I dont take away their right to an opinion on what is every Irish persons team. that is what some of the posters above(you as much as anyone!) are doing. explain to me how I have misread the content????????????

Klein, You abused a valued member, you have not apologized.
A supporter is one who backs the team. True supporters back the team.
It has already been mentioned crystal clear in one message.

to clarify, i will not hand over one more cent of my hard earned cash to the FAI while john delaney has ANY involvement. Enough is enough, i am talking with my wallet. if that sort of principled thinking offends you ole ole brigaders, i dont care. i would consider this sort of act to make me a better fan, as i am losing out personally to make a protest. unlike some of the sheep that follow the irish side.

as an Irish person I am entitled to comment good bad or indifferent on my countrys' team. as is anyone else whether I agree with them or not I accept they have that right.

Ray Houghton and John Giles supported the appointment of Staunton - are they the "Ole ole" brigade ?

Did you stop following Rovers when they appointed that dipstick Roddy Collins ?

I would have thought if you were to accuse anyone of "not putting their money where their mouth is" it wouldnt be the rovers fans...
and Giles backed Staunton but was highly critical of the manner and make up of the appointment as has been the case for most of the ex players and most of the people who are opposed to the appointment on this forum(the vast majority according to the polls)

Houghton yes. Giles no.

Collins was an experienced manager who had won the EL with the boyezzzz of all teams. Wrong analagy. But as it happened I wasnt happy, but I had an opportunity to tell McLiar and the board what i thought of him. Unlike delaney hiding away in his merrion square bunker surrounded by lickspittles.

You obviously don't keep much of an eye on Irish football, we did boycott our games until we starved the board out, and now the club is in an infinitly better position long term with the fans in control. maybe there is something in that.

I've no problem with people making a stand by refusing to go to games or refusing to line the pockets of the FAI. All well within reason if you feel strongly about it and as I said before I'm not adverse to seeing Delaney go in some ways. However, What i don't consider as part of that is people hoping are national team get 'tanked' and humiliated on the world stage and take joy from that :mad: . It's beyond belief that poeple can lecture on how Delaney is bad for the game at grass roots level but at the same time activly hope our national team are humiliated on the field (double standards or what! ).

There's a serious reality check needed if the co-relation between the feel good factor of a successful Irish team and the future development of the game on our Island cannot be seen. All the appropriate use of money will mean nothing if there are no kids willing to be the next international star and a successful NAtional Team has to be integral in all this. It's difficult to stomach this 'hope we get stuffed' attitute' and in my eyes is completly unrelated to the issue of not being happy with Delaney and wanting him removed.

I'm assuming that's what many (me included) are referring to when being disgusted at people not supporting the Ireland team. Going by the few Rovers supports I know who boycotted games during the board issues, they never once wanted to see the team be humiliated on the field and rightly so - the issue wasn't with the team. It was never a requirement as part of their protest as far as I know and neither should it be when it comes to Ireland. The team out there representing us deserve our support, be that from the comfort of your home while refusing to give the FAI money or in the stadium or a bar in Toronto (as it will be for me for the next few months!. :) )

I make no excuses for finding Irish fans saying 'I hope we get tanked' as completely disloyal.:(

There is no nonsense yet becasue this great Irish man hasnt had a chance yet!! You boycott the team, bring the morales down which in time will bring our ranking down more and give the media another reason to write about anything other than football! Dont hand over your hard earned money, stay with Rovers till you die! I go to games to watch the likes of Duff, Keane, Reid, Given, world class players imo, do you think they wont be playing anymore?? If it fails miserabley, then I might think about some kind of protest but until then I will be hoping that we do well while your sitting there hoping we get tanked! Sheep? grow some balls? ol ole brigader? are you trying to offend me you plank?? Im a passionate Ireland fan, who are you to insult me over being faithful to the Irish team? firstly, im not one of the 'hope they get tanked' people, im just not going to the games. i will still go to away games and support them and will be watching the games, but not with you and your plastic hammer in landsdowne. we will both be supporting the team, but i at least have the courage of my convictions to say 'enough' to the careerist filth ruining the game from top to bottom. one million euros on genesis while the kids have no showers and EL clubs struggle to make UEFA licencing requirements? **** that.

second, i think you should retract the allegation i 'throw bottles at kids' fairly ****ing lively.

you go to the games and tacitly support the regieme, enjoy yourself. you remind me of the wimbeldon fans emploring their mates to travel to milton keynes and watch them there, not support some sunday league side...

I don't think Houghton is in the ole ole brigade. I seem to remember him slamming the FAI post-Saipan, saying how the organisation was crap in his day too.

If you want to help this happen go to a rugby game cause if it does happen it will be down to the IRFU not the FAI.

Back to the topic, I dont feel right now is the time for protest! Can you not give this appointment a chance? If you cant, will you come crawling back if its a success?

as you are well aware from reading various posts from various posters, the issue isnt with staunton himself, its the corrupt incompetent fai who have undermined stan and made a **** up of his unveiling. but that doesnt suit your argument so you are throwing slurs arround.

1: Do you believe the FAI handled the changeover of managers well?

2: Do you believe that they have appointed the best man for the job?

3: Do you understand why some people are boycotting games as a result of this latest fiasco?

The comments werent directed at you personally, but the fans (yourself included) who are attacking those who say yes to the 3 questions above. Whether you are doing it deleberatly or not, you are helping the regieme. People who do so, should acknowledge they are doing so, not cod themselves that their eur38 is the difference between the stadium or not, its the difference between delaney going to old trafford or not.

There are people on this site who know who I am professionally and personally, and i dont need that kind of slander.

No, I dont think Brian Kerr was treated well. I have been in the states for a while so without media its not as clear.
