Love the auld Fats. Heard on the radio a few years ago his version of Lady Madonna - brilliant - can't seem to get it anywhere.

I can remember the first time I started to learn the difference between pop and rock/blues/soul when I heard the b side of his Josephine record. Song called Natural Born Lover - awesome. The way he makes love to those piano keys. Wow.

Notice that a lot of his tunes have a Bartholemew as songwriter - I thought that was his name. :confused:

Yeah, I remember that - he was pretty young too. I see Scotty/James Doohan has beamed up - I knew de Forest Kelly was dead and thought Scotty was too. I knew he had alzheimers or Parkinsons or something but I was sure he died a few months ago.
He'll never have to worry about those dilitium crystals again. He was my favourite on Star Trek.

I'm fed up editing misspellings - came across Google spell check by sheer accident yesterday - hit some button thingy - but can't find it now. Have a severe case of the transpositions at the moment. :o :D

OK Falco's records were produced by a pair of Dutch brothers called Rob and Ferdi Bolland. These guys wrote that song "You're In The Army Now" which was a huge hit for Status Quo....... one of whose other biggest hits was a cover version of "Rockin' All Over The World" written by John Fogerty formerly of the Creedence Clearwater Revival.....

Agreed about Scooty and Bones - William Shatner looks very poorly in that advert - then again isn't he in his 70s now??

Remember dodging study in school to see the original Star Trek on RTE every week plus of course The Man from Uncle on Saturday nights. I recall giving out hell one Easter Saturday evening because I had to go the ceremonies when Napoleon and Ilya were on at the same time.

You youngsters don't realise what we had to go through in dem days. :D

To get back on thread - wasn't there a band called Napoleon Solo?? I'm not confusing that with a group called Unkle.

Yes Kirk is in his 70's will be 74 this year. Agreed I think there are bands with those two names...

When I was off work on long term sick leave following my episode I used to watch Man From UNCLE on TG4 at 10:00 each morning . Saw most of them during this time. Great stuff.

I think it's on one of those Sky channels nowadays - David McCallum is now in his 70s too and Robert whatsisname/Solo is still on the occasional new programme.
I often wonder what became of William Conrad (Cannon), Clu Gullager (various cowboy programmes) and other actor/actresses from 60s TV series. Remember too that girl on Daktari - Cheryll Millar? - my first crush. :D :o Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. LOL

I think the "fats" handle was a popular one with jazzers for a bit. There's another rather excellent one out there -Fats Waller -I have some of his stuff. Also there was Fats Navaro and "Tuba Fats" Lacen.

On top of the fact that Waller and Domino were undoubtedly how shall we say -gentlemen of fuller carriage -I think the Fats thing might have been a stylistic handle as well ..i.e if the guys name had Fats in it you knew he was not only a jazzer but a jazzer of a particular ilk.

Never knew he was dead CTID. I used to like Cannon...a bit. He was no spring chicken even in Cannon....at least 55 or 60 and that was in 60s or early 70s so he must have been a great age when he died.
