Christ yeah, nothing annoys me more than that. Absolute garbage, real plastic and rubbish to have music played after a goal imo. The fact that it's woeful music only makes it worse.Quote:

The way I see it is you spend so much on your ticket why not make the most of it.
I remember when Scotland played here in 1999. Their fans where great. They got no reposnse at all from the Irish fans, even when it came to "stand up, if you hate england".
Go to an Ireland match now and ole ole is the best we can do. Where's the wit. At the Portugla match me and my friends start chanting "you're not the real Ronaldo", the response from around us was a few guffaws..but mostly it was like you were at mass.
yeah, good one. Best suggestion so far.Quote:

"The crescendo reached following the booming bass line would raise everyone's adrenaline levels," suggested one contributor to the debate on foot.ie.
Italy's Alessandro Del Piero, who is a big U2 fan, reckons it is a perfect song for football.
From the Indo
The boys are back in town is a winner for me, Sally McLennane is a close second!
How about Teenage Kicks by the Undertones.... Well known and catchy
How about when the tams arrive out 1st half, the boys are back in town, then 2nd half, where the streets have no name, and another for when we score!! also needed a few chants for during the match!
The intro to Love spreads, Stone Roses.. Also used on the last word.
Anything instead of that Hey, Baby rubbish. Something heavy rock to get the tempo going, Zeppelin?Quote:

If/when the new stadium is finished with it's booming sound system then the last two minutes of "Soon" by MBV is the only way to go.
Feck it, just re-record the 1990 anthem. Classic guitar riffs and all.
Jack: "We put 'em under pressure"
Kerr: "We contayin de opposition"
I used to think "Where the streets have no name" was about New York because they streets are numbered, 42nd street etc.. also they had other
songs orientated towards America such as "Angel of Harlem" so I was not
sure if it was suitable from that point of view.
Anyway Bono's explanation here says it might be about Belfast, although
I am not entirely convinced.

"I'm not sure, really, about that. I used to think it was Belfast, you know, 'cos in Belfast you can tell somebody's religion, you know, from what street they live on. You just have to say where you're born and everybody knows if you're a Catholic or a Protestant and... I think that might have been where Where The Streets Have No Name started from as an idea."
It's not a convincing explanation to me because if the streets had no name
you wouldn't be able to tell what religion they were
Its a good song though, as is "The Irish Rover" which is the kind of song the
crowd could sing along too to build up an atmosphere.
"The Boys Are Back In Town" is another good one, it sends out the right
message, we are here to do a job and we mean business. Its a good entrance
theme and it would inspire the team and intimidate the opposition.
Hey did anyone hear WTSHNN at anfield yesterday just before the second half? What have we started?
Morning Boys and Girls,
I've had a swift and helpful response from the FAI. They are awaiting our findings and will make a response accordingly.
The Blob
In fairness, while everyone agrees that the entrance music needs a change, in order to have a fair reflection of views and to have any kudos with the FAI, we'd want to have more than 35 voters so'd encourage as many people to exercise their democratic right and vote. VOTE NOW PEOPLE!!!
Mr. Bono, would you be available to conduct a sing song in Lansdown on say.... the 29th?
I'd imagine that the FAI may have a busy week so I've decided to foward on the findings now. Heres hoping they listen to the people...
Big coup for foot.ie if it comes off.
Im working on getting Bono in for the debut ;)
"A Man can have no greater love than to give ninety minutes for his Friends.... SO GIVE HIM THE BALL AND A YARD OF GRASS!!!!"
Sweet
Good work - let us know what responce you get.............btw what's ur personnal preference?Quote:

it's original I'll give you that ;) . Surely Niall O'Flaherty deserves first dibs though.
Just thought of a major downer for Where The Songs Have No Tunes -the opposition team have just walked out on the park and are greeted by a bunch of Irish singing "I want to Run -I want to Hide ...."
Nah -didn't intimidate me much either. :D
WTSHNN always used to make me cry when I was younger. U2 made Ireland cool at a time when it wasnt that cool to be Irish. The kinda said were staying up on this roof and were not coming down and the police were saying come down off the roof U2 and they said no and the people said gowan U2 and the police said stop that. Thats my twist on it. I started crying at the stage where there was a lad impaled on a street sign witha homemade I love U2 sign.
In summary - its two fingers at the world. Were Irish and proud. Come and try and pull us down if ya want.
Saying that, I used to cry to the Final Countdown on Sports Stadium when they used to show Ronnie Whelan scoring the volley against the USSR.
No contest.... Where the streets have no name.
Its ok to cry.
