I go because i am big enough and ugly enough to take care of myself, others though would feel pretty vunerable and intimidated.
Dundalk fans wont go in numbers to Tallaght because there is a very good chance that they will be attacked by a Shams R. scum element either before or after the game(or both). It isn't safe and that is the bottom line.In maybe 20 visits up there i have seen trouble at prob 18 of those games and don't be getting me started about the stewards or the Garda that "police" the matches -pure useless cnuts:rolleyes:
Tallaght Gardaí are the most professional anywhere in the league as much as I like to criticise the shambolic policing at grounds.
I saw plenty of Dundalk fans visit Tallaght last season for the 2-2 and the 2-2 draw the previous season - I was sitting beside them, so was Damien Hancock. It's because you're not very good now isn't it. :)
That of course would be another reason, tends to happen you know.Show me a team that is going poorly in the leauge that will still bring big away numbers with them ?? I still stand by what i said though we would bring four times as many to Tolka than we would ever bring to Tallaght and if your Garda statement is not a joke then you are talking ballix.
Like all away fans in Tallaght, Dundalk fans got the corner of our Main Stand, and decent cover against the chilly wind. Those that stayed to witness the payback for September 2010, were allowed to leave straight after the game, and from what I saw got no bother from anyone.Quote:

There is a bit of a difference in fairness.
I know! I was just genuinely wondering how ye were set??
Relegation struggle or that bit above it??
Is that Shanahan youngfella any good??
We are very poor tbh,if we avoid relagation it will be an achievement.Young Shano could be a good signing IF he can get the proper coaching and guidance. We need to bring a few experienced players in to certain positions to bolster what is a very very young side.
Well, they certainly didn't last night. I seen this happen the first year in 2009. It was very well policed I must say. However bar the first two trips Dundalk fans have been attacked each and every time up there since.
It's a plain and simple fact that Tallaght isn't a safe place to go to, Gardai have got too complacent with nothing really happening and may feel only real need to do such proper v the likes of Bohs, Shels and Pats.
It doesn't stop me, but I get why people won't go there especially families, those briging children.
Sure dundalks performances also affected the away crowd but all of the above stands and is true.
I parked at the Square S.C as did a few mates.Threw on the scarfs and headed up to the ground. No hassle,no probs, plenty of Garda and stewards about.
Leaving the ground was a different story,no stewards and no members of AGS to be seen.Just at the top of were the stadium wall ends(as you walk toward the square sc) about 12 Shams fans appeared and started swinging oul drink/drug induced thumps around.I connected cleanly with one on his big oul chin(s) and he went down like a sack of spuds.Right then they backed off and we upped the tempo in the walk back towards the cars and away to fuk.
Not one Garda or steward to be seen but we did laugh the whole way home at the junky on the ground and his mates wild eyed looking down at him :D
I've never had a problem up in Tallaght at a game but sometimes the guards do mess things up, once or twice they have kept us back which is normal but they then stop the Rovers fans from walking up the road and then let us out and both sets of fans are then mixing with each other. Makes no sense, if they wanted to make sure there was no trouble they should wait for the home fans to leave then let us out, not stop them and wait for us
But as I said i have never had a problem up there, trouble wise.
See this is the problem with some Shams fans, there is a security issue at their ground and whenever it is highlighted they go the defensive about how they were attacked in the opponents ground at one time or another. That is not the point here, the point is that on the majority of occassions that Dundalk play up in Tallaght some of our fans are attacked. I personally saw nothing in Friday but had trouble the previous time.
There is an issue there, and coming on and giving out about how you used to get trouble up in Dundalk doesn't make it ok. To stop the trouble up in Oriel, the Garda hold the Shams fans in after the match, have a large presence and stop any Dundalk fans from turning left when coming out of the ground, this seems to have resolved any problems. The Garda in Tallaght used to have it spot on at the beginning but have let it slip in recent years
....or the attacks in Dundalk were in retaliation for attacks at shams games etc etc chicken, egg. Both grounds have seen trouble from home supporters, more so Tallaght in recent times (maybe bigger crowds a factor). Both teams have a few idiot supporters that go looking for trouble at every oppurtunity (and yes, Bohs have a few as well).
Your "defence/justification" that somehow attacks on Dundalk fans now are retaliation for some alledged incident 5/6 years ago is beyond silly
Any rovers fans on this claiming dundalk fans have caused trouble at any games is hysterical.:D
Dundalk fans actually haven't caused one bit of trouble in any encounters, dundalk fans have got attacked in every game in Tallaght since 09.
The thing about Rovers fans causing trouble-Well we all know what they are like, so really no need to get into.
The issue that has been discussed is how the gradai have let things slip.
not justifying anything, just my opinion on the matter. like i said ive never seen trouble after a game in tallaght, thats not to say there hasnt been trouble. Dundalk fans just have very short memories, or maybe they're taking the hammering they got really badly. If there has been issues with any supporters after games i would suggest they get onto Rovers and make a complaint and the board can work with the Garda to ensure that nothing happens again instead of bitchy comments on internet forums
But it does stop you taking the moral high ground regarding it.Quote:

Who is taking the moral high ground? Any fan that is attacked at any stadium should highlight it regardless of the history between the clubs.
As for the Dundalk fans starting their biannual scrap AT Rovers fans, you are seriously deluded if you think it would be one side more involved than the other. Both sides would be equally happy to give each other a hiding.
