No, but they would be making the decision.
Though, perhaps the associations are in the more vibrant football supporting cities of said states?
Anyway the point being, he didnt need to show off he knows how to use google ; ) :D

In my opinion, McCarthy would be established in the Irish midfield if Trap had not got the sulk when McCarthy pulled out of the end of the season friendlies in May. For a man as old and experienced as he is you'd think he'd have grown up a bit by now. Trap is as stubborn as they come and there is a huge risk of alienating more worthy irish players from the set up:
Andy Reid - alienated
James McCarthy - alienated (Trap has tested this guy's patience and you would hardly blame him if he defected back to Scotland)
Stephen Reid - alienated (Sunday Times interview 3 wks ago, it was evident at how shambolic he was treated by Trap. Absolutely no respect was shown by Trap.
Andy Reid would have given us an extra option 20 mins to go if things were not going to plan. I'm not saying he would have changed things drastically though.
Having seen McCarthy playing on at least 10 occasions, he certainly would have made a huge difference in our non-existent midfield. The guy is a touch of class.
With his injuries S Reid wouldn't have done much, but having broken back into the WB team recently he could prove a viable option yet if he gets a good run at it. He would not have retired if he had been treated with some degree of respect. Still though he can be coaxed back but don't think Trap's ego will make it a reality.
Don Givens had an amazing skill of bearing grudges and alienating talented players. Trap is the exact same (look back to his Bayern Munich days). How many more quality players will he alienate before he his tenure ends??
SupremeFeet, id be worried about meyler getting game time, guan or whatever he is called cost bruce 13 mil and he needs to justify that, besides sunderland are playing decent of late.
ya he is a striker but bruce has said he will play him behind campbell/wellbeck as opposed to a normal 4-4-2. I suppose though he doesn't play that far up, though last year in the games i saw him play he was around the opposition box more than his own. I spose zenden( i cant see him dislodging henderson in a central role given he has just been called up by england) might be the one he has to dislodge and i dont see that happening.
Meyler will get game time at Sunderland. Cattermole is always good for a few suspensions.
Tommyc,
Andy Reid was an issue last year when he was fit and playing well. Not so much now. In any case, he has said that he feels uncomfortable playing in the centre.
James McCarthy will be in the squad when fit. Trap has even said in October that he wanted to have a look at him.
Steven Reid has missed two and a half of the last four seasons, due in part to suffering or aggravating injuries playing for Ireland (Germany 2006 and Montenegro 2008). It made perfect sense for him to retire from internationals. Saying he retired because of Trap is mere conspiracy theory. Besides, Brian Kerr treated him FAR worse, and he kept playing on.
All these are based on quotes from the horse's respective mouths. I can't find the links, but they've all been produced on here before.
Had a bad time at Newcastle, that is about it. Been very good elsewhere and makes the most of meagre budgets. He has a good eye for players and his teams are always tough to beat. Maybe "excellent" is a stretch but he is a very good manager and I believe that people who think he is "a joke" or a "crap manager" do not really know what they are on about. Or they have not been watching the Premiership the last 10 years. Plenty of "good' managers have shown themselves incapable of managing in the Premiership; not Allardyce though, he is well able.
I never said he's a bad manager, or that he was incapable in the Premiership. I just think that his level is mid table, he'll never get a team into the Champions League, peaked with Bolton in the UEFA Cup, and hasn't repeated anything close to that success since.
Has he ever managed a team capable of getting into the Champions League? No. And I believe that was the point he was making when he was talking about himself managing Real or Barca. His comments on that issue were quite laughable but he is a mouth, as is Mourinho mind you. A mouth, but a good manager nonetheless
