As if the LOLrish haven't made fools of themselves enough...
There is now a live text update on BBC featuring many hilarious quips from people calling for the game to be replayed, boyoctting the WC etc etc...
Give it a rest Mick, life ain't fair.

I think they meant as in not watching it, buying merchandise, contributing financially to it etc...
but still, they look like fools with some of these whiney comments

It's not like the Irish to hold a grudge
so you see why I think people don't really care?Quote:
Yeah how dare we show displeasure at being cheated out of qualification for the biggest tournament in football!
Completed gutted over the circumstances under which we went out but feel it's poor form begging to FIFA for a reply when I can't see it ever happening. Unfortunately we just have to take it on the chin and move on.
So proud of the lads last night. They put everything they had into it and deserved to get there. Lording it over the French in their own back yard is not something I'm going to forget in a long time.
This, exactly this.
I'm worried that all this nonsense about getting a replay is going to overshadow the performance and the failings of the campaign and blind us to what needs to be done for us to progress as a team.
We should be all spitting fury about the u21s and not about trying to get FIFA to change their rules for us because soon enough we'll be without Dunne, Given, Keane, Duff, Kilbane and even guys like Reid and O'Shea will be knocking on. Who's going to step in for them? If we're not careful we're going to slip right back to being a very mediocre side and thats getting lost among this hysteria
see what messages have been sent to Henry so far: http://twitter.com/#search?q=%40thierry_Henry
In fairness, people making scathing comments on those are hardly any more or less representative than elsewhere. Its just the ying to the "we woz robbed" yang thats going on on here and other Irish websites.
I do agree that the whole thing has a faintly Princess Diana-tinge to it, but thats life these days!
My message to Mr Henry would focus on his reaction to this saga more so than the 'mere' act itself. While I feel the handball was wrong and much more than a defensible natural instinct, I think some small mitigation arrives in the split-second timeframe.
So what is particularly distasteful is Henry's reaction, his denial of any culpability when he's had time to consider the issue. "But I'm not the referee," he said as if that concludes the matter and relegates his role. Alas poor Henry, you should know you are your own referee. A disgraceful act is one thing, but it is so much worse to blithely stand by that action and indeed shift the responsibility on to the referee as if that makes what he did ok.
To make an analogy I'm familiar with, a drunk person can occasionally offend someone. The least I'd expect from the offender is an apology and acceptance of responsibility. I would not expect them to explain the episode as "yeah, I did it, but I was drunk." A little more humility, a little less righteousness, would be nice.
NOt sure which is worse, the chelsea jersey or the ginger goatee.
Very scary to think that a couple nights after our under 21s are beaten 4-1 by ARMENIA... we may very well have witnessed the beginning of the golden generation's end. Players from this team were on teams that won the european U16s and U18s and also went to the World Youth Cup... Who do we have coming up... Anthony Stokes? Please..... I predict that 2012-2018 is a rough time for Irish football...
I'd like to congratulate TH on his dream move to the Celts.

He wants the game replayed. Breaking news on the BBC.
Any quotes from Henry himself?
I hope he is not just covering his arse here and actually means it.
Just on RTE radio there. He said it would be the fairest way to see who should go to the World Cup.
Cynic in me says its perfect timing. FIFA have already stated their position but Henrys statement would give him some credence....
He simply says 'the fairest thing would be to replay it'
He doesn't call for the FFF to do anything.

I notice the way he waited until after FIFA refused.
A purely political move to make the cheat look better and to try to repair his commercial image.
