Think it was a once off...but for an RTE sketch show, it made me laugh at times...
New Entry for the title....I'm posting this 15 minutes into Lucy Kennedy's new talkshow and its the TV equivalent of scraping your fingers down a blackboard.
I can't wait 'til it finishes and I can get out from behind the sofa.

I was tipped off by the words 'Lucy', 'Kennedy' and 'talkshow'. :D
Had it on in the background. I'll second that nomination. Standard RTE strategy for when can't come up with new shows is to do another talkshow - sure there enough people hanging around Montrose to fill a season :rolleyes:Quote:

I'll add Nightlive for nomination. Surprised to see it on TV again this week. I thought it was bad enough turning a 5 minute sketch into 30 minute show but now RTE have made a series out of it. :eek:

I'm amazed nobody can remember "Eamon High" a music show in the 70's. Hosted by a guy wearing an imitation space suit driving a golf cart which was covered in tin foil to make it look "space age". It was so bad it was hilarious. 70's Pop music clips with no live bands.
I'd be quite interested to see what the city versus country/town breakdown is when it comes to comedy or entertainment in Ireland and the regional divisions therein. People should indicate where they are from when they post what they think is or isn't good as I am of a solid opinion that there is a major 'culture' divide when it come to mirth on this island. Northern humour is a class apart from Western comedy. Southern wit (Cork hurlers on strike!) is way different to what tickles Eastern funny bones. Dublin has a category all of its own. This is firmly demonstrated by the fact that Dubliners for example hated the likes of Upwardly Mobile because they could not stand the fact that fun was being poked in their direction through that show. I loved this television programme and would relish seeing it again. Likewise city folk who are 'oh so sophisticated' are so out of touch with reality in this country that they don't understand the humour of Killinaskully but on the other hand think a foreign made show like Father Ted is brilliant. Just because people on another island think this is funny it does not automatically entitle people across the sea to also assume it is dazzling. Killinaskully is to me 100 times better than Father Ted. :cool:
Some shows mentioned here that I like are Katherine Lynch's wonderwomen and Nightlife. Nightlife is brilliant - it has me rolling around the place with laughter.
Project ha-ha is terrible in my opinion. The verdict is still out on the Lucy Kennedy effort. I cannot believe no-one has mentioned Questions and Answers - the most doctored and vetted programme of any that I have ever watched. Fair City is dismal as the complete lack of any humour in the plots shows how of out touch the screen writers are or perhaps how stifling the main broadcaster is. Dublin is full of characters and humour but RTE will not display this trait because when it comes to humour on the box Dubliners have their heads stuck up where the sun don’t shine. Or to put it more plainly most natives of the capital are so serious and full of themselves they think that their sh*te doesn’t smell! ;)

If Athlone Town had not broken the Dublin stranglehold on soccer then none of the other teams outside the pale would be in the league of Ireland today!

Everyone hated Upwardly Mobile, not just Dubliners. Because it was shash.
Killinascully has some funny moments, but it shows one of both Pat Shortt and Jon Kenny's biggest failings which is that, when the one isn't around to reign in the other, they've a tendancy to flog the living sh!te out of the same joke, over and over again, until it collapses and dies writhing in agony. Most people's opinion (that I would hear I mean) would range from an OK to a poor enough show, but far from the poorest which is why it hasn't been mentioned here til now, but it's fair to say it is more popular in certain areas of the country. To say it's 100 times better than Father Ted though will just mean nobody will take anything else you have to say seriously. I know I won't. Father Ted is one of the top 10 or 12 sitcoms ever. Almost by default it is the best comedy ever to have come of Ireland in any form.
Katherine Lynch, as comedy, has no redeeming features whatsoever. She is painfully, mortifyingly, unfunny. And I'm a culchie too.
