I don't think I'm the one missing the point.

Our attendances are only sh!t in relative terms. 2,000 at a hockey or handball game would be considered excellent in Ireland. So why is it considered sh!it by LOI fans ? Primarily because of attendances in leagues elsewhere and the level of interest in football, and the fact so many Irish contribute to those attendances rather than our own. If the English Premiership wass getting a 2,000 average, our attendances wouldn't be considered sh!t any more. It's all relative.

Likewise our standard is sh!t when you look at in relative terms. Yet we can't slate the standard, though it's alright to knock the attendances. That's the point - cancer everywhere, yet we're only allowed to point out that it exists in certain areas.

We'll just have to agree to differ, as I can't be arsed trying to explain to you any more. :D

Limerick have one around the corner from Jackmans park but the train station.May not be in the city centre but it is a seperate premises

They're sh!t full stop.

More people play football in this country than any other sport, the interest in hockey and handball is relatively small, in terms of participation GAA and especially Rugby have far better returns.

Our national side attracts more people in an average game than the combined attendance of an entire series of league games [both divisions] so we know that while there are people who play the game in huge numbers and people who will go out and sit through a live game, that doesn;t translate into decent attendances week in week out. Add in the kicker that thousands travel to Scotland and England every week to watch live games and it adds up to a completely disillusioned public.

Nothing to do with the fact that 70,000odd will turn up in Old Trafford on a Saturday.

Actually Basketball has quite a large following down here, with both Neptune and Demons having much success in recent years the attendances are quite high with Demons v Neptune matches often drawing sell out crowds.

The thing about the Cork sporting public is that if a team is successful, loads will flock. If the Hurlers and Footballers finally came out of their strike and were useless for years and years attendances would be quite poor, but the fact is both Cork Hurling and Football is strong and so people will go. City do have the biggest hardcore support though, may sound biased but I've been to games all around the country and I haven't seen a bigger hardcore support
