Went to the Cross 2nite and watched a good cup final. Knockraha went 1 up after about 20 mins. Patrick Long made it 1-1 when he scored from Mark Nolans corner. Glen went 2-1 up early in the 2nd half when John Corcoran held off a few Knockraha defenders before finishing well. Glen then missed a penalty which could have wrapped it up. Knockraha were very big all over the pitch and made it 2-2 from a corner. Glen went straight up the pitch and went 3-2 up when Dean Mulryan buried man of the match William Corcorans fantastic driven cross. In fairness to Knockraha they kept putting the high ball into the Glen box and it was causing all kinds of problems. But the Glen held on for a deserved victory in the end.
Coachford going be minus a few players for 2nd leg of semi they have no hope of winning now.be no harm because few they missing were shocking in first leg...as regards teams going senior.any premier aul team with good vacilities can go senior if accepted.few teams in senior that wouldn't last aul premier!!!
Also went up to the Michael's Cup final at Turner's Cross. Great game of football in fairness and a good showing for 1st division teams. Glen deserved there win in the end, had alot of chances throughout the game and should have put away 2/3 more. In saying that, they where very lucky that it didnt go to extra time because knockraha had 2 very good shouts for pen in 1 passage of play a few min from the end. Also Knockraha had a goal disallowed which was a joke, high ball in and there was 2 knockraha players went for header, Glen keeper came out and got beaten to it and there was a free given out. Think the ref bottled it with that and the pen decisions. Was afraid to give them to be honest. Glen have some lovely players and well able to play ball, will be a very strong prem A team next year. Only thing is they will need to get a bit of height into the team. Makes me wonder how Kinsale the Set Play specialists couldnt score in 110min against the glen. Anyway well done to Glen and also Knockraha who gave us a great game, worth the €5!!!!!!
I hear that Zero teams have applied to MSL to date, but a few applications are expected
I have spoken with the chairmen of three of the clubs mentioned and they have confirmed that they will be applying. Looks like a much weakened AUL from next season, could probably take the loss of one or two teams as in the past but if four or five top teams were to go at the same time???????????
buttevant with the set up they have are going full steam ahead,it would be no harm to see the aul get a full revamp anyway .a comeing together of the two would be ideal ,aul and msl .but i somehow cant see it happening.well done to the glen last night on their cup victory,.
Not the first time this has happened. In the nineties Castleview, Temple , Mayfield and Ballincollig all left at the same time. And it has happened other times before that. It will hurt for a while but new teams will soon fill the void. Have it on good authority that all the teams mentioned have spoken to the MSL, they might not have applied yet but all are definetly interested. Depends on who the MSL want and they can be fairly picky.
was down at this game. enjoyed it. glen should have been out of site. great crowd as well.
need to have all the facilities to be accepted afaik. dressing rooms with showers, enclosed pitch, parking and good standard pitch are a minimum.
I can see 2 or 3 coming up from the AUL. It should be the winners of the AUL get an invitation to MSL. There are a few teams in the MSL that shouldnt be up there. Will Temple move back down to AUL?
off topic here lads. anybody know why 1 off your cork refs is reffin here in limerick, a buttimer?
I see kinsale had a big win over the weekend, hearing they've applied for msl from a v good source. Would be great to see em go up! Can't comment on other prem aul teams applying cos I don't know enough about them, but played casement last week in div 2, and they are definately not a div 2 team! By far the best team we have played this season.
ha ha. he must have done some damage to your club so cos we're delighted with him here. as for your opinion that he shouldnt be LOI, I watched the pats v rovers game and he looked solid enough to me. course our standard of game here is higher than yours in cork so maybe you want offside and free kicks when you ask and not when referee decides. anyway ye have plenty LOI refs in Cork so we're claiming him. until further notice that is. ha ha
Anyone know why the Greenwood v Killumney game was off tonight?
I think it was because of john egan removal was on tonight,
Great result for Springfield tonight away to Castleview. Won 3-0!.
Any other results from games tonight in Aul?.
Should be a great few weeks left in the Prem Kinsale hitting form Coachford big win tonight things are beginning to heat up at the business end of the season but hats off to Park who with the points in the bag look shoe in's for the title but i know no European football for us lads but 2 and 3 spots are going to be well contested . Lets pray for some great ball and injury free last few weeks :) Best of luck to all any idea who leading golden boot ?
Wrong in my opinion to but hopefully he'll stay with ye in Limerick!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hubba, 2 get promoted from Premier A, nobody knows what will happen if clubs go to MSL, Premier A will go right to the wire, with Pearse, Castleview and Springfield all in the running to still win the league, Pearse must still play both of these teams yet, so even though they look like they have it wrapped up there is still a lot of twists left in this league yet.
Anybody heading to coachford Saturday for the second leg of the semi , should be a cracker I'd say !!
Coachford put 4 past wilton during the week , they have ability to score alright !! Where is the park , pearse game on ?
Who were Pearse playing when they had illegal players?
Us and Park twice were their last 3. We didnt spot anything or even look for it. Maybe its something to do with cup-tied or 14 days from 31st March? Should/will we get points even though it wasnt us who caught them if it is proven to be true? I doubt it was intentional even if it is true.
Hubba hearing porkies?
Not fair to make statements about clubs playing illegal players on here, thats a matter for the team playing them at the time. It's up to them to make an issue of it not for others to make assumptions.
Horse, Kanturk played an illegal player against us at the start of the season, they lost the 3points but we were not awarded the game as we were told we did not put in the objection. Cant understand the logic behind that decision, if its an illegal player it should be the same punishment no matter who puts in complaint. Just another make it up as we go along rule i suppose from the Aul.
not possible that ye didnt get the points surely. is it? never heard of that before. see lots of examples at all levels of teams being docked points for irregularitys with money etc (rangers.) but would have thought that if a team drops points to a team who have played an illegal player then they would get the 3. obviously if the team with illegal player had been beaten the opponents would not receive another 3 points but the offending team could still be deducted 3 more as punishment. not feasible in current climate to impose fines so taking points would be a good detterant.
Maybe they should be named and shamed...i was watching match few months ago and I knew two lads who were playing that shouldnt of been...they play with the first team and were then playing with second team under a differnt name...to make things worse one of them got an equaliser with the last kick of the game...unfair to teams who are honest
I spoke too a few ex cobh player when I read the thread comments.. They said they are playing with the same squad for the last two years and they have not played illegal players.. Maybe the person who made those comments maybe part one of the other teams in the running. Went to the part v Pearce yesterday strong team lost in penos what I saw they have a nice team who play good football on the ground. Park scored from a stoke City type throw ball into the box with 3 min to go in extra time
Lawman, dont get me wrong we lost on the day to Kanturk so we didnt deserve the points and we didnt make an issue of not getting the points when we heard about it. Its just in all my time involved in Aul football, ive seen plenty of times where if there was an illegal player playing the other team were automatically awarded a 3 nil win. I would just like to see consistency and there should be one punishment for breaking the same rule whether we objected or whether the aul found out by spotchecking matchcards. Im only speaking from experience too, where at my former club we were at the end of those punishments before.
Was at coachford match weekend and have to say the referee was an absolute disgrace
Tully was trying to ref it.was the worst display I've ever seen
I thought they lost the points for somebody illegal in FAI cup? I maybe wrong. If a team loses 3 points for a game, then other team should get them. The Committee is there to make sure everything runs fairly and smoothly - so if they catch someone then the other team should get the points.
As expected, Pearse did not play anybody illegal and dont even know where the rumour started. They just dont seem that kinda club/team.
What about this club who have been caught 3 or 4 seasons in the last 6/7? Should the punishment be the same each time or should it get bigger each time? It is in the ethos of the club, and the only times they arent caught is when the other team wins as was in our case. They played an illegal player against us with 2 legal guys on the bench?
They got caught in a cup match they won earlier this season, and as the aggrieved team were walking out of the AUL meeting, the cheating side passed a comment - "Bad form for reporting us" - I mean in fairness!!!
The other side of this coin is are we punishing the volunteer who is scrapping a team together.
Just a short note to wish Innishvilla all the best in their top of the table clash with Douglas Hall in 1A on Thursday.
Should be a cracker - Innishvilla have been playing catch-up since they lost their 2nd league match of the season, but have gone unbeaten since. Douglas Hall are still unbeaten and are 3 points clear at the moment.
The two Division 1's seem to have 3 exceptional teams in them, Glen Celtic, Douglas Hall and Innishvilla have between them from 41 games lost 2 games total, drawn 5, scored 150 conceeded 24...
