Kate McGarrigle . . . at age 63, from cancer. Kate was married to singer songwriter Loudon Wainright who was a frequent visitor to Cork, and is mother of singer song writer Rufus Wainright. Kate and her sister Anna were a brilliant singing duo in their own right. What a loss of a brilliant talent. May she rest in peace.

Legendary rugby commentator Bill McLaren, aged 86.
Used to love listening to his commentary on the BBC on Saturday afternoons, lovely turn of phrase he had, some of the best ones here.
what a commentator,he was the best in the business
Without a doubt, McLaren was a wonderful informative, witty commentator.
