is there any proof that trap doesnt know? maybe he is so confident that McCarthy is with us for good that it doesnt matter. we should never cap anyone just to tie the player to us in anycase

Hopefully Brady will have got the memo to Trap before this morning's espresso. Should definitely see McCarthy against Norway now, with a view to getting him involved next year.

Agreed. And maybe make them all aware, just in case it still dosent register, that he still wont be tied to us if he plays in the Norway game.
He should be playing because he is a manifestly better player than Green, Whelan, Andrews and Gibson. The f.act that we know this and he knows this will inevitably make him wonder whether Trapp has got something against him. At this point playing for Scotland begins to have understandable attractions
i dont totally disagree with you but nobody knows how he will perform at international level until he actually plays. he may have missed the end of season camp for good reason but that was the best opportunity for him to get involved full-time. the only realistic opportunity since was the argentina match and that was never going to happen given trap was going to go with the players who know the score and were to be involved in the 4 qualifiers to date
McCarthy set to figure in future plans: http://www.independent.ie/sport/socc...m-2378540.html
note, from that article:
and from the official line up on dozens of sites (uefa.com, rte.ie, fai.ie, wikipedia, etc)Quote:
His club colleague Marc Wilson, who failed to make the bench in Tuesday night's 1-1 draw with Slovakia, is in line for an international debut as well
BTW McDonnell is on twitter if you want to let him know about this - http://twitter.com/#!/McDonnellDan/Quote:
Subs: Murphy, Keogh, McShane, Wilson, Gibson, Foley, Cunningham.
McCarthy and Wilson deserve their chance. Lets hope our team evolves into a better team.
So does Kevin Foley, Stephen Ward and Seamus Coleman. The first two are regulars in the Premier League but can't get a look in under Trap, and Coleman has hit the ground running at Everton.
For Wigans 2nd goal yesterday McCarthy showed great tenacity and strenght in winning the ball off Joey Barton high up the pitch which eventually led to the goal. I remember last season he marked Gerrard out of the game when he played against Liverpool and I seen him play that kind of defensive game at other times too so I dont buy that he doesnt fit into Traps system.I think this lad is capable of doing whatever job he is asked to do
Trap has no choice now the people have spoken and they want James.
he's not the messiah - he's a very naughty boy!
or maybe thats Stephen Ireland they were talking about...
I think he's certainly gonna be up to standard as much as anything we've got.
Thought he did well when he came on against Brazil. Couldn't believe Brady didn't know he could still declare for Scotland
Bit off topic but this is the line up I'd like to see for the Norway game ................... given Coleman rb dunne st ledger o Shea lb fahey rm McCarthy Wilson cm duff lm Doyle keane ................. Ciaran Clarke , Gibson , long , mcgeady and Cunningham to all get at least 20 mins off the bench
You forgot to use this -
Stutts doesn't do smileys.
I can barely even bring myself to use a traditional exclamation mark.
Chuck Norris doesn't do smileys - stutts doesn't do smilies.
Stutts - as hard as a diamond Chuck Norris statue - doesn't do similes.
What about an actual diamond Chuck Norris? Would be just as hard, but perhaps lacking in rampant sexual charisma. And facial hair.
James McCarthy was just stretchered off against Bolton. Looks pretty serious, have a bad feeling about this.
Awful news.
Are you watching the game SF?
Suspected broken leg.......disaster.
All the best James absolutely gutted for you.
Chris Kamara said on Soccer Saturday that the players were gathered around him looking very concerned. Looks bad for him
Who tackled him?
Terrible news if it's a break. Huge setback for the guy.
Ah cripes.
From the BBC text updates:
1531: At Wigan, a poor free-kick from Antolin Alcaraz leaves team-mate James McCarthy struggling to make up ground with Fabrice Muamba bearing down on him. The Bolton midfielder's subsequent challenge leaves McCarthy writhing in agony. He is stretchered off and is replaced in midfield by Mohamed Diame. Not too much wrong with Muamba's challenge, as reflected in the fact that he goes unpenalised by referee Howard Webb. Bolton have looked the likelier so far.
I'm watching the game, albeit with Korean commentary. Think it was Muamba who tackled him. The physio made an 'X' hand-gesture immediately when he got to James, obviously that's not good. He didn't look to be in too much pain as he went off though, looking at his face. Looked more disappointed than anything, certainly not in agony. But I fear the worst.
Was he stretchered off, or carried off?
Would you be inclined towards ligament damage or a leg break?
