Lads, Anybody know if Knockvilla have parted company with their manager sine christmas
3 things,
1st Connie, this iis the Cork Aul,im not sure tellin us Shane signed for Cork City is a good thing, your club has a more stable base than City,an probably a better squad too.
2nd,I didnt even know who was managing Knockavilla in the 1st place,
3rd an most important of all,on Billys Blog the draw for the Oscar is on,why are we not encluded an Kerry are, what the hell has gone on their,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Connie i believe it is true that Knockavilla parted company with their manager...Pat Downey was in charge when we played them before christmas but i heard from one of their players he is gone... tough time to bring in a new manager especially when they are struggling....
keith Kelleher is a top notch player and as already posted his commitment is open to question bit littleman if ye can get it out of him then ye will have made a great signing...
We have signed two good players ourselves in neil greaney from glenvale...neil played with glenthorn last year and is a fine midfielder with loads of experience and we also signed young Shane o Mahoney from ballyvolane..Shane is a player with lots of potential saw him take a great goal for grattan against us last year and delighted to have them both on board... hopefully we will have one or two more before end of window... 16 training last night and rearing to go for our match away to park on Sat... Parkboy any idea how its looking pitch wise down yer way????
By the way did anyone attend the seminar with Damien Richardson over xmas...if so any feedback...wasnt able to make it but interested to know what it was about
Owl im not sure i agree with your sentiments....once the final whistle blows for me thats it i dont hold any grudges...lifes too short!
What the hell just saw that too...
It is all messed up
- according to that 2 team from group 8 are through Dublin AUL and Wicklow.
- Kerry and Limerick Desmond weren't even in the same group???
- No team from qualified groups 3 and groups 7 are listed
- Clare and Galway aren't in the same group???
I was about to give out but lets not forget this competition is run by the FAI...
Was surprised to see Neil Greaney playing second division to be honest!! Also impressed me when he did play for Glenthorn! A lot of players in that Glenvale side are probably too good for that level - I wonder if they will lose a few more before the window shuts
Street, relax a little bit there bud. That text wasnt to be taken seriously at all. Anyway, Shane kept that very quiet, hadnt seen him for a while but the last i had heard he was injured. Nice lad, think he found it hard to break into the team but i wish him all the best with ye.
All games still on so far ??
I agree chico, no room for sentiment anymore and in alot of cases recently, loyalty. Maybe some of these players are struggling to make an impact at there respective club so decide to play elsewhere.
Im back after a quiet spell.
Good to see streetscene back.
Is that the Youths inter league draw lads?
Owl, game should be ok for tomorrow.
Loyalty is rare and volunteerism even rarer!!!
Horse, thats great news. Finally a game, fingers crossed.Time for one of us to eat into kanturks lead !!
Cheers.
Good call looks like it is... Wasn't very clear in Billy's blog...
Some people call it sentiment others call it loyalty. I'm not sure but I suppose having only ever worn one colour jersey in my career I would have a different point of view to some others (also I was never good enough to be "tapped up" by another club). I can see the point of view of trying to better yourself by signing for a new club as high in the leagues as possible but why not do that at the start of the season not half way through when your playing with a winning side that you are probably an integral part of? I think a club would be impressed if they approached a player and he said he'd love to join in the off-season as he'd like to finish what he started this season with his current club (I know I would be anyway) - that's the type of player and attitude I'd want in my team/squad.
I'm all for loyalty Innish !! Spent 17 years with one club til it was thrown back in my face :( If you re-read my post innish you'll see that i said that some people would have thought he shouldnt be playing at that level anyway - so got to respect a fella too who decides maybe he'd be better off playing at a higher level!!
Park Utd v Blarney St off
Lads i think you will find that Glenvale have actually got stronger in the transfer window.. i know they have signed one or two the names escape me now but i remember commenting that they were good signings...i know a lot of the Glenvale lads and they are not a flash in the pan...they are well organised and are hungry for sucess so the wont be losing many... in neils case he was left out of one or two games and wasnt happy about it..i would be good friends with him so i suppose we were the obvious choice for him id say...
Owl aplolgies if i took you up wrong... delighted we got Shane to be honest..i think there is a very good player inside him he just needs to settle down and get into it... he is a very quite lad and i think you have to drag him in to things to get him involved...looked very sharp in training the other night tho
Loyalty in football for me is practically non existent....as soon as someone gets dropped or is unhappy then he is off to his buddys team or the team that drinks in his local.... part and parcel of junior soccer im afraid
spoke to the manager of ballyvolane and he told me that shane o mahony hasnt been transfered yet,the secretary hasnt signed any forms ..
Owl...........maybe too hasty!!!!
Greaney is a very good player. Well able for Prem Id say.
If the form is fully signed up, then I think the sec can only hold it up a fortnight. Am I right?
Glad to see Glenvale doing well, know a lot of them - good club. One of them gave us our name.........one of us directed them towards their pitch!!
Would you think some guys stay where they are cos they dont want to answer "why?" when the secretary/manager/other players asks. Is it much easier in the summer?
Any comments on Barrys mid season review?
Horse an Street posting within such a small time,at least I know whos on nights
Street, no bother bud. I agree that there is a good player in shane but that he does need a push to bring it out.
a little bit of confidence and he could be a potential match winner. (thats if the transfer goes/went through)
Shetland, what team are you associated with ?.....
Horse, hasty about the game ? or transfers ?..........thats alot of rain falling outside mate !!!!!!!!!
I met Shane a few weeks back an he explained why he was goin,an who he was thinkin of joinin,I know him a bit better an longer than most.Im honest enough to admit I thought he would be a good addition to our squad. In fairness he said Blarney St had made him welcome an I admire that an in hindsight it was a good move for him as I couldnt guarrentee him a startin 11 an he knew that.
Where an how you play him will denote what you get from him,I rate him highly but he needs games an we cant give him that.He is good though.
With regards to wether he is signing or not I think its clear he wont play for Ballyvolane again,if he has asked for a transfer, even just once then if the transfer form isnt signed within 2 weeks the Aul will grant it,barring he owes money to the club he is leaving.Thats the only stipulation.
Shetland
I think the POWERS that be within the street are jumping the gun a bit too soon .From what your saying NO paper work has passed between Bally and the street .I can tell you the same goes for Glenvale no request for a transfer form from the player or B street , the first they heard or read about it was on the www. Which i think was a bit cheeky and arrogant to say the least
Cezc,ya can highligt all the letters ya want but it only cheapens your post.
Couldnt give a rats backside who posts on behalf of what club as long as we keep it all football an never the less droppin hints just looks like ya are a bit bitter cause a Glenvale player has decided to leave,Be greatful for what ya hav cause ye are havin a good season so far cause theirs a lot of clubs have less.
Their seems to be a bit of a mis understanding about how an when a player is transfered so il explain this one nice an clear.
A normal transfer goes along the lines of,the club hes leaving signs the transfer form, the club hes joining sign the registration form,ya post um to the Aul registra an thats that.
An awkard one goes like this,a player upon asking for a transfer an not having it granted after 7 days will be granted that transfer, barring he owes for what ever reason any money to said club.
Wether,it senior or junior thats how ot goes.Any body dosnet belive me,the Aul rule book, page 5 of the rules,19 A an 19 E.Im not in the habbit of lieing.
Coachford v Grattan in the Premier is off,,,,,Parkboy I presume you will have some spare time tomorrow
Blackstone 1 - 1 Ballyvolane
A bit disappointed to draw this game in the end but if i'm honest i felt it was a fair result - thought Ballyvolane played well - a good footballing side! This game could have finished 4-4 to be honest with both sides missing good chances and both keepers playing well - Our centre midfielder hit the cross bar from inside our own half , would have been a great goal if it went in !!
Killowen 0 Richmond 4.
Both sides had 5/6 scoring opportunities, Richmond took 4 of theirs, Killowen didn't convert any. Goals win games it's as simple as that.
We played well in patches but were two down after 35 minutes and conceded again midway through the 2nd half. We seemed to play at our best when 3-0 down !! Richmond were dangerous on the break and played some lovely football at times on what was a sticky surface.
Agree with ya there horse. Very dissapointed with the draw aswell. Considering both sides hadnt played in a long time, it was a good game of football. I felt we had the better of the chances but were not clinical enough in front of goal. Saying that ye could have and prob should have won it near the end but for a great save from our keeper. Great effort from the half way line though !!!
Round 2 next week.
What did you make of the ref today ?
Owl, you better acknowledge it was chcio's mail cos he has been kinda cranky this week - like us all he must smell the beginning of the end of his beloved Man U's era!!!
Not nights Littleman - my 15 month old house mate doesnt allow me to get to the laptop as early anymore..............
Back to the match today - If it was a boxing match then Ballyvolane would have won on points, but only 10 minutes left when the equaliser went in. We cleared 2 off the line, and Ballyvolane had about 500 corners!!!
We could have won it near the end and that shot that rattled the crossbar would have some goal!!
Round 2 next week it is!!!
Apolagies horse. Ah the poor fella, at least he not a Liverpool fan !!!.
Cheer up Chico, how do ya think i feel, i support Sheffield Wed.
Bohemians vs Hillington off
Being honest this game could easily have been played the ref said the pitch was frozen and to hard but it was soft enough and calling it off at 10:15 that time is a joke, both teams wanted to wait till 11 both warm up on it and see would it be thawed out by then and to be fair it was getting softer without us jogging on it.
Both teams felt this game should have been played no problem whatsoever, the ref had his mind made up even before he got to the pitch if you ask me but thats just my opinion.. He said it would take an hour to thaw out but we said we wait till 11 jus 15mins less than an hour and he was having none of it.
You'd think the AUL want fixtures played so to not add to the backlog so to call the match off for a pitch that was although a slight bit hard (at 10:15) was in good condition
wilton 1 kinsale 2,,,,,,,a match report will follow as soon as iv had me din dins an a quart, tis sunday after all an one needs to relax
First , Horse me ol mate I understand totally about your bed partner,I have a 3 yr old an a 4 yr old an everytime Daddy went upstairs to use the laptop Id get about 10 secs on it an the Youtube straight to Winnie the or Barney,,,,,,,,,I bought myself a Nokia E 63,tis like a Blackberry an now I can post to my hearts content cause they have no interest in my phone, sheer bliss.
Now about the game this morning.Wilton looked stuffed from the off, they are a class footballing side, when they have it,but they have far too many players who arnt to pushed at getting it back.Kinsale were neat an tidy in fairness, rarely gave the ball away and though they didnt create a bucket load of clear cut chances
They had Wilton on the back foot for the majority of the game.Neither keeper was busy throughout because when the ball reached anywhere near the 18 yard box, both sides lacked a quality ball into the box.
Wilton looked to be just about coping with the pressure in the 1 half when all of a sudden they fell asleep an Kinsale, pounced.Scully put a dangerous ball into the box,Alberto only managed to palm it out an the Kinsale No 10,i think blasted into the net to give Kinsale a deserved lead.
Wiltom got to half time at 1 nil, just an the 2nd started with a bang,Scully hit a shot from just outside of the box, right hand side an Alberto looked to have it covered, until he made a total mess of it an let it squirt under him. 2 nil an again nothin more than Kinsale deserved.
Wilton on woke up then an Shane O'Neill decided it was time for him to get envolved in the game.Wilton pushed forward thankfully an Kinsale wilted a bit, conceeding a goal that was a carbon copy almost of the 1 st Kinsale goal.1/2 with about 5 to play an Wilton pushed again. Now I dont think Wilton deserved anything from the game because overall they were a pale shadow of themselves but I did have a slight tint of sympathy for them when in the very last minute O'Neill was caught in a sandwhich of Kinsale defenders jumping for the ball, one made an honest attempt for the ball an one nearly snapped the poor lads knec, brutal challange right in front of the ref.It looked horrific an ref didnt even blow to see ,foul or not was the player ok.Wiltons side line went mad, rightly so an then the ref blew for full time.
So another 3 points for Kinsale an thats 11pts ahead of us.I hope Wilton can regroup an raise their heads cause they are a class side when on form, today was an off day.
Leeside drew away against Kockavilla in a game which I thought would be a straight forward affair so im lookin forward to a post from LittleIsland soon.
Leeside 2 Knockavilla 2. Terrible result for us. Should have beaten them, they led 2-1 at half time and dont know how. they also played the second half with 10 players. Honestly they should have had more sent off. the ref was abysmal and hope we dont see him again. We were camped in there half in the second half and missed numerous chances and finally ricky getts scored in the 95min to get us out of jail. I hope this is just a blip and where not believing our own hype. I would also like to congratulate the C team on there first victory of the season in the county cup.
Boo, you cant be letting your legions of fans down with a normal post!!!!
Owl, the fixtures have been updated and it looks like our return game will have to wait. Were you playing on Saturday last yourself?
I am a Liverpool fan!!!!
Good weekend for Kinsale in the Prem.
Prem A is gonna be a dogfight as the season goes on.
Good win for us yesterday.
Of course we're happy with every 3 points we get. On another day it could have gone very differently.
The difference yesterday was that the Wilton centre back was caught in possession for our 2nd goal.
Even-steven besides that incident.
I was very impressed with Wilton's wingers and their No. 10 - very good footballers who we found difficult to manage.
Wilton were probably caught cold after the long break and will be back on song next week. Watch out!!!
:ball:
