I think we'd all agree with that.

I wouldn't have a problem with Trapattoni. His record speaks for itself. The only problem is his age, but he still seems capable of a good job at most places he goes.
SSN have now destroyed their reputation with me. :D
I really thought we were going to get him......I must have texted 20 people when the news was breaking yesterday evening and now I look like a right idiot. Thanks SSN! I thought we'd be able to banish El Tel from our memories. Instead the nightmare approaches ever closer.
did i win the internet then?
He is back into fav at 15/8 PP.
The one thing we can learn here is that the bookies is no way any guide of who is going to get the job. The bookies are playing with the market and they are playing all sorts of games with this.
Latest post on Wikipedia:
"30th January 2008, Trapattoni was heavily linked to the vacant Republic of Ireland Managerial position. This suggestion was dismissed by the FAI selection panel as attempts to manipulate betting markets which he himself has confirmed "
Just been told that there was something on RTE news about Trappatoni getting the job.
Listening to RTE news all morning. Nothing of the sort said on any news. PK talked about exactly what's been mentioned here ...which is bookies stoking the market.
Ok no problem, some guy in work said that it was on the Pat Kenny show
but sure of course it is. lads ye'd swear this is a revelation. That is what bookies do the whole time, who do you realistically sets the "favourites tag"?!
The RTE sports report started with scoop like sensation, 'from a reliable source - it's Trapattoni with Liam Brady' and talked about it
only after a listener emailed in 'not another scam' did the presenter concede that the scoop only has a questionable rumour value.
Dimwits
On the back of the Herald it says Trap might be announced by Delaney at the awards on Sun.
Did you post the wrong link Neil?
Another Trap close source
'but well-placed sources have confirmed he is ‘very close’ to inking a three-year deal to take the Republic of Ireland up to, and beyond, the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa'
'I understand Trapattoni has already had “positive” conversations with at least one leading figure involved in the recruitment bid.'
I take that back. The pressure got to me. ;)
The Sun say he'll be announced as manager next week.
Hopefully Givens walks:
"When I see that story I find it absolutely amazing. We haven't spoken to Trapattoni and I find it rather hard to believe the FAI are going behind our backs,"
Ah well if the Sun say it , its as good as done
I'm guessing they have the same source as everyone else. Most of the papers are a lot more conservative though. :)
Anyway, all SSN said was that he was in talks, that has pretty much been confirmed. When someone hears SSN get something badly wrong then let me know. As it is I trust them as much as BBC.co.uk which everyone seems to worship.
