The coefficient differentials are mad looking there with Dundalk on 2.590
So APOEL and Celtic are our choices?

Celtic is so tempting. Winnable because Celtic have been muck so far, and yet it would involve Celtic fans (and Dundalk of all teams of course...)
On balance, maybe not. But it might be the best chance. You'd expect one upset out of those three on balance though - so a chance of what, Zagreb? Dundalk did win in Croatia two years ago...
The next tie is potentially worth E12m. It's like an obscene game of Who Wants to be a Millionaire.
You'd imagine out of those the Czechs would be the biggest spoofers Bill.
Dave McMillan back to being outright Champions' League top scorer btw, with 5.
Big congrats to Dundalk they fully deserved it and even bigger well done to Kenny who masterminded not just tonight but taking them from a LOI play off spot to a play off spot for the Champions league which is nothing short of sensational .
So what CO-Effs do Dundalk get for that win. I mean surely they should be given 42 or something :P But surely its worth more at this stage, and against a seeded team?
You missed the 'at a minimum' in the original post. I would give my right arm/leg/ball, or possibly all three*, to see Dundalk qualify out of their CL or EL group and have ten games to play. That's what I mean by dreaming big.
Correct - and as above, anatomically speaking.
*But that's easy for me to say - I''m a ciotóg.;)
It isn't worth any more coefficients to beat a seeded team rather than unseeded and I thought you were so good at quick scans of wikipedia pages to appear knowledgeable, masking a nothingness.
To win the next tie though, reaps a rich bonus of 4 coefficient points.
I'd prefer Eir Sport. Hopefully they can keep the coverage. I think it will fall on RTE and TV3. They'll have responsibilities to UEFA as host broadcaster. Not something they have to do too often. They possibly could opt to leave Eir Sport broadcast the home game.
No, I think you're confusing yourself there, with yourself funnily enough.
Ya so that would still be very little.
I wonder how the players cut works out in this, a smart move would be to give them a percentage of every draw and win that they achieve rather than just for getting to this stage.
RNK Split?
So the most popular and most successful team in Split (and second most successful team inn Croatia) is NOT known as Split? MAD!
Are you kidding me that you're debating the colloquial name of a Croatian team that were beaten 13 years ago with LOI fans?
Would you give over Paul. Good jesus.
Really are ye embarassing yerself? Have a read of what it actually means and further down then, good lad. Ye might understand https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hajduk
No one refers to them as Split. And i am not just on about Croatians.
Is Geysir a LOI fan now? You pluralised it...just bl8w him off and get it over with BS :P
But back to Dundalk I agree. Well done, I wonder will there be much celebrating in dundalk tonight :)
Time to split, Paul.
2011 is no longer a one hit wonder for the league. UEFA Group stage football is clearly a realistic target for LoI clubs.
Best of luck to Cork on Thursday night. Already a sellout. Massive ask. Hopefully they can progress further too.
Anyone know the prize money for the qualifying rounds? Every where I've looked only has the group stage onwards.
I'd imagine if they drew Celtic it would easily be a sell out at the Aviva, even if Dundalk managed to bring about 15,000 there.
Right people, someone needs to bring it up
Play Bate at home on the AstroTurf. 0-0.
Rent out a council grass pitch. 3-0
Let that be the end of it.
You arrive in the LOI in Europe thread every year like a bad smell Paul. :monkey:
would I be correct in thinking that Dundalk are not that far off getting an automatic seeding for next year, that is if they win the league again? 4.94? Need Dodge for this
Even though I'm not sure what is being argued by who anymore, this statement is correct. All the Croats I know are Hajduk fans and they never, ever refer to Split when talking about Hajduk. In the same way as neither United nor City are referred to as Manchester.
Their club co-efficient is up to 4.6 something and up a whopping 100 places. Now I'm not sure if the bonus for EL Group Stage(2 points) is added to that or will Bert wait until after CL/EL groups are resolved. With 8 games left, you hope that their co-efficient would increase enough to guarantee that they are seeded I'm QR2 should they win the League. Would want minimum of 5 points to be in with a chance of that, based on this years' seedings.
in case you missed it

looking back at that, sun in their eyes in first half, peeing rain late second, got to love Irish weather
That as it may be Stu. The issue at hand was not that Paul was right but that he bothered to "correct" geysir so needlessly on this great night for LOI football.
He reminds me of a guy I grew up with that had all these useless facts about stuff that derailed conversations and sent things off other tangents like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Give me five bees for a quarter, you'd say.
Best second half performance in Europe I have seen from an Irish side.O'Donnell was immense..
Cmon Cork go for it.
The 2 points are already added. They aren't far off, and are already seeded for the EL First round which we hope to put them in yet. If they win the next round and reach the CL group stages they would almost certainly be seeded.
In the group stages wins and draws are worth 2 and 1 points respectively to the club so even a draw in the EL would give them a chance, and a win would probably be enough.
What a joyous night to be a League of Ireland fan.
This is huge.
I wonder what's the chance of them strengthening the squad somewhat now? Richie Towell back on loan? Aiden McGeady as mentioned above, would he come on loan? Stiliyan Petrov wasn't offered a contract by Aston Villa. Stephen Hunt still has no club. Is that the sort of player they would look to? 6.5 million is a lot of money to blow on a few players..
A goalkeeper is needed there for definite.
Well if you look at this season 5.400 was the cut off point for seeding in the 2nd qualifying round. And then 24.720 for the 3rd (round just qualified from).

Lastest team ranking has Dundalk up to 4.640. I assume that includes tonight's results.

I'm too long out of the loop to remember exactly but I think only actually winning and drawing matches could boost that further? Plus then there is bonus points for reaching CL/Europa Group stages and subsequent rounds.
Not inconceivable now that there could be an LOI team in the EL and CL group stages at the same time now.
