Check the dates it took place over the last 3 years. My areguement is that ,as it is in memory of a man who was dedicated to football it should maintain its importance, but if its last years season it should be played as close to last season as possible not closer to next season.as has become the practice now!!!Quote:

Any others? Do bunratty, rinnenna, etc get involved in this, i cant remember?
it was originally just for shannon teams only... not sure if rinneanna / bunraty are involved now ... have not even watched any of the last 2 years competion ... it seems to be dying a death a couple of years back this was the best cup to win nearly even better than winning your own league ... and always was very competive matchs with local pride at stake :D :D :DQuote:

It was always meant to be a tournament for shannon teams though, so i suppose ye probably we always going to suffer the wrath of some malcontent up in shannon town anyway. What kind of a season did shannon town have anyway? Still mid-tabling in 1A ???
I think Shannon Town tumbled down to 1B after their stint in the premier. They were however in a playoff for promotion back to 1A a few weeks back. Did anyone hear how they got on?Quote:

When HK was our manager he played 2 of the "new crop" and we got a 2 year suspension. We knew the situation though and at the end of the day I suppose rules are rules...
Did Newtown get a 2 year suspensionthey played Dean Richter and Davy Wall "illegally" a few years back?Quote:

The Wesley Webb tournament was always meant to be an end of season competition and with the Shannon teams only involved.Initially it was a fiercely competitive tournament. Unfortunately it is not always played in that period and drifts, causing problems for all.Indiscretions by some clubs have meant that Bunratty and S.D.C. were expelled. ShannonTown need to review the reasons why they run the tournament as it is in memory of a man that gave them great service and should not be forgotten for the principles he proudly promoted with them. Oldspice and cousinsyl and opengoal and a few more, might just be too young to remember him but are well informed locally and seem popular enough with the rest of the contributers so get on to them and spread the word, GET THE WESLEY WEBB BACK TO THE STATUS IT WAS, INCLUDING ALL OFTHE TEAMS FROM THE LOCALITY.
By the way S. Town won Div. 1b last week
Agreed on the fact that Wesley Webbs name needs to be honored properly. The problem is Shannon Town leaving it too late too run it and then coming across with this "official" rubbish. If they were official theyd run it at the corrrect time and the problems would not arise in the first place.Quote:

Of course you are right, all we need is for all or any of the S. Town contributing to this forum to have the b...ls to raise the issue and get the ball rollingQuote:

Lads,
Do you know that the Limerick League still isnt over yet??
And we think we have it bad??
The Wesley Web hasnt always been just for Shannon Teams, I remember when Star Rovers used to play in it when it was held in the two pitches that Sennan's rugby team play in now. Im almost sure that there was also another 1 or 2 teams from Limerick in it also. By bringing back a couple of Limerick teams it might make the tournament more desirable to win. Teams like newtown would be able to use it as a gauge to see how far behind the Limerick league they are.
:Dgetting your tournaments mixed up ... park rangers tournamentQuote:

You ure mixing the Wesley Webb up with the Park tournament. The park tournament had a mixture of Clare league and Limerick teams involved.Quote:

Question for you "The Boss". Is there any truth that Lifford will be entering a "B" team for the coming season?
The only thing I remember it for was how biased the Limerick referees were!!!Quote:

I believe all Shannon pitches are closed at present, but for different reasons.Newtwown and Rangers are working on theirs in the close season ,I think the others are let grow wild to facilitate the local birds and wild animals. If you do this you get a grant from the Department of the Environement as proposed by the Green Party.Quote:

:ball:how many wesley matches have you watched were limerick teams are playing clare teams .... all major decisions seem to go way of limerick based teams .. :ball: :ball:Quote:

is davy wall returning to the clare league,he would be a huge loss to the limerick league if he went.
this sums up the standard of clare soccer for me when ye keep harping on about this webb tournament,it prob has alot of sentimental value to ye as a tournament but as regards a trophy to win iv never heard of it,is it any wonder yer best players leave for a higher standard in the limerick league,[dave o grady daryl eades davey wall mike omalley scalesy seamie lawlor nabs just to name a few ]
I dont remember anybody trying to pretend that the standard of the clare league is very high. Everyone acknowledges that the limerick league is at a higher standard, and if you look back over the previous posts you'll read about how poor the standard of refs and pitches are. So apart from stating the obvious I dont really see what point your trying to make.
Would you not start a thread yourself as everything everyone else says seems to up set your sensitive nature...or do u get out of the wrong side of the bed everyday on purpose??What is the case at the moment doesnt have to continue that way forever so discussion allows for views to be expressed which may result in improvement. This website allows a foruem for discussion which may help with this much sought after improvement.Quote:
