I suppose the big difference between Obafemi and Connolly is that Obafemi is a genuine goalscorer and will be given more rope as his kind of player is always in demand. Obviously he won't get an infinite number of chances all the same, but someone will take a chance on him at a decent level if Swansea want him out.
Connolly isn't a great finisher and his game is more about working hard to make chances, which means with his apparent attitude issues he's going to be more expendable and sooner if he doesn't have a proper reset in 2023.
Mick has shown consistently poor attitude throughout his career. Let’s see if Burnley reignite their interest, certainly Swans more open to selling in this window you’d imagine
Swansea messed him about in August should have taken the 8 or 10 million they clearly were willing to sell just wanted to get extra from Burnley. Cooper seems to talk alot to the press unnecessarily about players which really is disrespectful and can't help the relationships with the players.
Hopefully moves on in Jan and Swansea get close to the money they would have got in August.
Martin? Problem for Mick is that he has shown form at Southampton too for being unprofessional. And the Irish saga too. He’s clearly has an attitude problem that’s not improving as he ages. Hopefully he can get a move and stops throwing his toys out of the pram
Not in the squad again today, so it looks like the January transfer window could be a big one for him...
Looks like he could be on his way to Burnley if the internet is to be believed today. Would be brilliant move for him.
Not even on the bench today for the FA cup
He is as good as gone if anyone in the championship wants him
If he wasn't a baby he would be a premier league player
Do Burnley really need him I wonder? Top scorers in the division by a distance (52 v 44), 14 points clear of third, 10 league wins in 11, goals coming from all around the team so they're not reliant on one forward and hoping he doesn't get injured.
Jan-May Obafemi would of course be an addition, but Aug-Dec Obafemi could be like Asprilla signing for Newcastle. Just not sure if it's worth the risk for them.
Time will tell I guess.
And if he put the head down and worked hard rather than throw the toys out of the pram when the move didn't happen he might have had better offers come January or in the summer. Now we're wondering if Burnley would still even have interest in him at this stage.
Wout Weghorst linked with a move to United today, might help Obafemi's move to Burnley through
Manchester. They're scrounging around for cover for Martial since Ronaldo exploded.
Sad to think that the one player who looks to have the ability out of anyone talked about or seen in the last few years just doesn't have the attitude to match. Maybe just a sign of the type of character(s) being produced nowadays.
Don't think Swansea are gonna get much more Obafemi. He hasn't brought his form from the start of the year into this season, his contract is running down, and he made it very clear in August that he wants out of Swansea.
They can play hardball and let him sit in the stands till the summer but will be screwing themselves more than Obafemi.
Would expect Swansea to hold out until deadline day and hope they get the highest price possible. Can't see anyone paying much more than 3m for him.
That'll fairly backfire if Burnley land someone else though?
