Anybody else think the 1st Division this year has been a bit of a fiasco for the league ?? I know rules in place about two teams from same club can't be in the same division
but
Avenue b win league and two teams who finish 4th / 5th Thirteen / fourteen points behind them get promoted/ play-off while avenue b and Newmarket b miss out

A lot of travelling in the premier if those 3 teams get promoted...Where do Shannon town go?Hardly making div 1 a 11 team league?
It's not been a fiasco but the facts are that maybe Ennistymon could be competitive in the premier , but the other clubs would be hammered almost every fixture , you only have to look at what happened to Bridge Celtic this season.
Maybe the divisions need to be increased in terms of teams. Like if Kildysert lost they could have ended up in a relegation playoff. B teams will never be allowed up to play against their A team which is right I think.
You can't have 2 teams from the same club in the same division - so I don't know what the point above is trying to make, can you elaborate ?
As for Football in Shannon, too many clubs and not enough commitment from the players to try and be somewhat successful, or if that isn't the answer then they just don't have the talent.
If a team weather its A or B is good enough for the division they should be allowed up ..Like Avenue b will finish 1st/2nd in the league and still not be promoted . b teams are always trying there best to beat there A teams to prove a point...So what would be the problem
Honestly ? It's not allowed the world over, so why should or could it be allowed in Clare ?
There are multiple potential problems with this - 1 example is the following scenario: A team need to win the last match of the season to guarantee they win the league, B team are relegated, or mid-table or whatever, but low and behold, the A team are playing their B Team and if the A team win, then they win the league. Hmmmm you don't think that could be a problem ? You can use the same scenario for either team being in a relegation spot. You also have the scenario whereby the B Team can try harder against other teams in the division, which further helps the A Team.
That's just a couple of scenarios off the top of my head.
Why not just have a reserve team league.......................
why not play A V B Both games early in season example one answered ... I would hope any team in any division would try harder against other teams ah hello that's how you hope to win league..
example 2 avenue A / NEWMARKET A Both finish bottom & 2nd bottom of league next year they cant get relegated unless their b teams get promoted or relegated is this fair on two other teams in premier who then would get relegated

your quote " It's not allowed the world over, so why should or could it be allowed in Clare ?" very intresting considering for the 2011/2012 season in Clare Hermitage C & Hermitage B Both competed in the 3rd Division Clare league Wonder how this was allowed ?
Think this is getting silly now..An A team cannot play in the same division as their b team, never have and never will...example: bunratty played bridge Utd in relegation/promotion playoff back 8 or 9 years ago and bridge b were in promotion playoff to get to div 1,bunratty won to get promoted and bridge A relegated to div 1 and bridge b could not play their match cause they could not get promoted due to their A team in div1...
Old Git - I can't believe you think there is no problem with an A and B team playing in the same division. It doesn't matter when the teams play each other, start of season or not. I don't know what rule was in place for the Clare Div 3 in 11/12, but I'm sure there was some reason for that happening, it's still wrong, in saying that it was the B and C team, not the A and B team, so my comment still stands - You never said anything about a b and c team ;)
Regarding your counter example - if an A team gets relegated, then they should be relegated and should not be kept up because their B team is in the division below. 2 things can happen in that instance - 1) B team automatically relegated a division, 2) If the B team secured promotion, then they get promoted. :) Actually, I don't know why I'm even trying to justify such a silly idea (the whole A and B team same division thing).!!
Coolcat - cheers for the common sense comment. :)
