1 saint michaels :fifa floodlight pitch,stand,state of the art dressing rooms and meeting room, astro turf pitch. top facilities all round
2 clonmel town : good pitch, astro pitch , complex and indoor hall, new dressing rooms, state of the art all round
3 Clonmel celtic : good pitch, brand new astro and brand new dressing rooms. superb facilities
4 Peake villa: 2 pitches, astro turf, new dressing rooms
5 cahir park : brand new dressing rooms complex opened this year, prob one of best pitches in country, stand, astro turf, Prob best set up in Tsdl
6 Wilderness : not bad pitch , newly formed club in comparison to other prem teams so will improve in years to come
7 Cashel town : lot of money spent developing pitch.Lovely finish on pitch ,fenced off etc very good dressing rooms and parking
8 Galbally Utd : Dressing rooms astro turf .Existing pitch not great but have bought a second pitch beside existing one and are developing that at present
9 Saint Nicholas : brand new pitch and dressing rooms superb set up for small country club
10 borris : astro turf , club house and dressing rooms, 2 top quality pitch's
think those ten teams would make real good premier division next year not saying there ten best teams but if we have best facilities in premier one would imagine overall standards would improve. If we were to put ten top teams on footballing ability in premier next year would prob take galbally out of that list and put in either bridge or rosegreen
Valid point with regard to facilities, but I still think 12 teams would be a better option. If you take out the 8 'B' teams and create a 'B' League you would then be left with 35 teams. Run 3 divisions consisting of two 12 team leagues and an 11 team league...............More League games then for everyone involved, especially the lower league teams who normally don't progress to latter stages of cup competitions................ The bigger Clubs in theory should have the squads to deal with the extra games..........................
If the premier was made up of 10 teams and a shield was brought in after Jan that was played between all premier Clubs that did not get out of the area in either FAI or Munster Cups it would give premier clubs an extra 1 - 4 games most seasons and depending on numbers each season could be played home and away for each round. This would give 'smaller' Premier clubs a chance to win silverware at the end of a season.
Are we not then in danger of de-valuing silverware by bringing in a shield just so somebody can win something at the end of the season, if clubs like Cahir, Cashel etc want to win something then they need to start working harder at their youth and schoolboys to develop teams that can win silverwareQuote:

Come on now!! How many of St Michael's current Premier team came from their youth or schoolboy teams of the last 10 years? How many players have Cashel and other smaller clubs lost to St Michaels or Clonmel Town after years spent on them at Schoolboy and youth level!Quote:

It's a bit chicken and egg really Hooper.. the junior teams go downhill because the youths are stolen or leave after youths, and then the youths coming behind don't want to stay because the junior teams are gone downhill.Quote:

Yeah i see what your saying, it is a difficult one, maybe the clubs need to develop some sort of club spirit and family feeling and show players plans for the future that encourage them to stay,i agree completely with balls comment about the quality of some of cashels players but you have to ask why they find themselves fighting relegation,there is no question some of them are not giving all that they could and im sure there are reasons for thatQuote:

But saying that, ye`re not the only club who do it, villa were often guilty of it themselves and town have a long history of it as was pointed out with the old bridge debate.

wel your entitled to your opinion fairdecision but to say peake villa were guilty of poaching players down the years is the understatement of the century. at one time there they were so desperate to win an fai youths cup they had players from all over the place playing for them. answer me this who is the only club to win an fai youths in south tipp? yes saint michaels actually they won it two years ina row in 94 and again in 95 a feat that no other club will ever do again in south tipp and it was the nucleus of those two squads that got michaels to two junior finals in 2000 and again 2002 with all homegrown players such as, davy ryan, hawk o dwyer, eoin bresnan paul tobin, alan flynn, etc.. im not having a go here mate i feel bad for what is going on up there at the moment but it is mismanagement of the club in the past 10 years that has resulted in your current situation. just on foggy wel if michaels hadnt acted there he would be wearing a clonmel town jersey otherwise as has been the case with derek loughnane and ted o connor. who else was he going to sign for in fairness only 1 of those 2 if he was leaving villa.
lads homegrown players in my opinion would be a lad from tipp town played all his underage with saints from say U10s up. ye have one player in that bracket in yer starting 11 paul tobin, no one else is even from tipp town in yer starting eleven.(dont think cooper or jimmy carr were with saints that young plus neither are from tipp town) Im not saying ye are not a great club saints are prob one of the best junior team in the country to play for but all this homegrown stuff is a bit much. I honestly hope ye win silverware this year so would appreciate not being attacked back being accussed of being bitter etc, on paper saints have best team in tsdl so lets hope they prove this on sunday and start another fai run like last year.
