I wouldn't mind him going to a Championship promotion candidate...the key thing is that if he does move on that he plays exclusively as a centre forward instead of a winger.

couldnt agree more about his position. He is an out and out goal scorer and needs to play as a striker for a few years consistanty for him to improve. As a Celtic fan I would like to see him at the club because I think hes good enough but a Championship club with the right manager wouldnt be bad for him either
How about Ipswich!
Stokes scored twice for Hibs in a 6-6 draw with Motherwell (they were leading 6-2 at one point). That takes him to 21 goals for the season, one off top scorer Kris Boyd.
If only Ireland could play Scottish teams in World Cup Qualifying.
Another year at Hibs would do him the world of good I think... Could be the most open Scottish league in years next season. Playing for a manager who knows him and knows how to play him. Plus it'll give him more choice and leverage in moving on as he'll only have a year left on his contract.
He'd be nuts jumping ship now. He needs to continue to build up his confidence. There's no better tonic for a forward than a steady flow of goals -no matter what calibre of opposition.
I just saw the report on the Guardian website, was there a program about him?
You can see both his goals in this video on YouTube (it'll probably get taken down soon since it's BBC footage). Neither goal is particularly good, Liam Miller assists the first one. Fast forward to 2m 30s to see Stokes' goals.

Have to say, the standard of keeping for some of those goals is absolutely pathetic, Motherwell missed a penalty too. The final goal is worth watching though :D
Stokes was very easily outpaced for in the build-up to Hibs' third. Reminiscent of a modern day Robbie Keane :o
Dunno about that. I don't think he's ready for England again yet, but if Celtic moved for him, he'd be mad not to take it.
Six goals is not a great amount over a playing career, one extra goal a year would be enough.
The real reason he won't get close to the record is that he is not playing or indeed in the squad!!
Would you not think the "real" reason would be because he is no-where near as good as Robbie is? (Or was at the same age)
Signing for Celtic according to the Celtic Forums.
My theory is that quite a few SPL players can look good when playing against Celtic but don't replicate the form when Celtic sign them.
From the BBC text on the Celtic Game
With United's game just about to get under way in Greece, a bit of transfer news for Celtic fans. BBC Scotland has learned that Celtic manager Neil Lennon is closing in on Hibs striker Anthony Stokes and is also keeping tabs on Israeli international Etey Shechter
I hope he's not going there because he's been promised European football.
With Fortune playing right wing its been shocking so far tonight!
I could get a game in that Celtic back four. Surely it can't get any worse in the second half.
This is Celtic away in Europe we are talkin about, worse is to be expected!!!! Its hard viewing, not sure how I havent broken the laptop watching so far
It was even worse than my predicted 3-0 defeat. We really are ****e when it comes to away games in Europe, depressing stuff altogether.
Stokes wouldnt need guaranteed European football for a move to Celtic though (Im sure it was tongue in cheek stutts) I just hope Lenny knows what hes doing. I really like the look of Stokes, I have advocated bringing him in to the senior setup for a run out for a while now. However, we currently have Samaras, Fortune, Hooper, Maloney (currently playing a sort of nbr 10 role), Daryl Murphy. McCourt & Forrest positions fairly fluid but attacking players. Rasmussen has now gone out on loan. Id imagine someone will need to be shiupped out first.
It was indeed tongue in cheek!
Deal done. Stokes to Celtic - £1.2m!!
Stokes just scored his first goal for Celtic against Kilmarnock, a tidy volley from a couple of yards out. Good to see him get off the mark. Daryl Murphy scored from the penalty spot in the first half.
He timed the run very well actually. ex-UCD Conor Sammon also scored.
very impressive, 10/10 for the overall awareness to set himself up for the tap in.
Reminiscent of Robbie at his best, timing his run to perfection.

Great timing indeed.
I was sorta watching the game and Stokes did alright, good energy about him - esp with closing down, though I thought he made a red card tackle in any other language. First touch - isn“t great, holding up the ball - not great, but he has good vision and was involved in most moves. Yeah he does remind me a bit of Robbie.
As for Daryll, he has no striker instinct and generally has less to contribute than Chris Killen. I would like to see Stokes play with somebody else up front, Hooper?
Good finish - I would have missed :)
I really think Stokes is a proper poacher, which really goes against how he was played at Sunderland. He defo is not a winger
Sammon's goal was well-taken and he showed great composure. Stokes was the most imaginative and creative player for Celtic, but really the quality of the game was rubbish.
