Long involved in all 3 goals.
Good stuff. Astute business by Bruce. Jelavic and Long are a good match for each other.
Was thinking the same thing, Long and Jelavic seem to be completely on one another's page from day one. WBA's decision to sell him is looking increasingly like a relegation decision.
Acted as the provider today with several top quality crosses for his team mates. He deserved for at least one of them to be finished off and will perhaps have wished that he was on the end of one of them. An all-action battling display.

Even when Hull get hammered, Long shines. Always utterly baffled me as to why Trapattoni would play Walters and Cox ahead of Long in several positions. I have always thought Long's running and crossing ability would make him a huge threat even as an auxiliary winger.
Although we never should have payed an auxiliary winger, if we did it should always have been Long. He played wide right in effect away to Slovakia and looked excellent.
MO looking to Long to fill RK's boots.

Any chance you can just revert to surreal nonsense Crozzer?
Why? I think its a good article.
Yes. But good info is a break from form. We get good articles from other people but from you we usually get surreal nonsense. And all our lives are better for it in an odd kind kind of way.
Well, I suppose I could tell the story about the time i met Oprah Winfrey. It has to do with me throwing up on a flight from Atlanta.
I burst out laughing on the luas at this exchange. Huzzah.
That's what she said!!
Long trips himself up, wins penalty, Jelavic predictably misses it and Rosenior scores from the rebound.
Long grabs Hulls second.
That must have been a sweet one for him, shame Clarke isn't still in charge though.
He just hit the post near top right hand corner.
Don't know who will score Hulls next goal but it wont be long
before they get another.
Long denied a second goal by the woodwork. Excellent long-range effort after some more good link-up play with Koren.
Long joins the lengthening list of injured Irish players.
Long, McShane and Brady all injured now.
Quinn's season has been ruined by injury.
Eyes on Meyler's cruciates now with a potential FA Cup final on the horizon.
What's Long's injury?
Steve Bruce doesn't believe it is serious. Then again, he didn't believe that Brady's fitness/injury problems were serious either so....

Shane Long tweets defense against dive accusations; comments from Meyler.
Long didn't even appeal he carried on playing, not his fault the ref gave a penalty.
His fall was very divacious.
Maybe he made to play on as he thought he might get a yellow!
:)
I was just about to check up on the meaning on that 'word'.
I saw it on MOTD, and was expecting to see a dive. I'm pretty sure it wasn't though. He had his calf clipped and a push on his shoulder both around the same time. It was a tangle of legs, a very soft penalty but not a dive in my opinion.
Selling Long maybe would have made sense if they weren't relying on Anichebe, Vydra, Sessegnon, Anelka (at the time) and Berahino to score the goals to save them from relegation. Long offers more than all of them and they don't offer the goals to counteract that. There is no fluidity or rhythm to their attack anymore.
Look at How Hull's attacking play has benefited from signing Long. Jelavic looks pretty shocking at times and even he is benefiting from it. It's not just the goals - and they have come in handy - but it's the way they play.
His goalscoring return isn't even that meager when you take everything in to account. Aside from Aguero, Sturridge, Rooney, Aguero and Giroud who all have at least twice as many goals as Long but make more in a week than he does in a year, strikers who score more than Long are:
Remy (13)
V. Persie (11)
Lukaku (11)
Bony (10)
Negredo (9)
Benteke (9)
Welbeck (9)
Lambert (9)
Eto'o (8)
Adebayor (8)
Dzeko (8)
If Long is not value for money, then what are Dzeko, Adebayor, Eto'o, Welbeck, Negredo and Soldado. Even Van Wolfswinkel earns more than Long and he hasn't scored in 22 games! 10m pounds and he has no technique whatsoever!
He received some vile abuse from a section of WBA fans in front of his young daughter - upset her, understandably, according to reports.
He is currently the second best Irish player on stats behind Coleman and in front of McCarthy (Delaney next).
Took his goal well I thought, poachers sort of goal.
Stats. Hmmm.
Great character reference from Ben Foster in defence of Long. Should shut up those fans who accused him of diving and end any ongoing debate.

Why would that piece end any debate about the incident? It looks really, really like a dive. The shape of his body and legs as he falls all scream dive to me. I'm a huge fan of Longs and I don't really care about whether dived or not but the outrage needs to be curbed by the evidence.

If it was a dive I don't really see why he got back up so quickly and played on, unless he had planned to dive, realised he'd made a mess of it and tried to cover it up, only to be hoist by his own petard so to speak and awarded the penalty nonetheless.
