Isn’t it amazing to look at that list and see the amount of clubs that have disbanded in the last 15 years.
Killumney United
De Courcey Albion
Knockraha
Millstreet Celtic
Crescent Athletic
Hillington
Fairview
Dunbar Celtic
Glanworth United
Tower
Cloughduv Celtic
South Coast Athletic
Blarney Street Athletic
Greenmount Rangers
All gone in the last 15 years, some were a real force in the AUL in my time. A real shame.
Leeds
Ballyvolane A B
Glenthorn B
Glencairn
Ballintotis
They all won trophies at some stage
Grattan 5
Coachford 3
Knocknaheeney 1
All the rest have gone ,,,,that's who's won the premier an not jumped ship ,,,oh an the cancelled Covid seasons since 2006/07
Summer season , ha ur havin a laugh ,,,,lads are finishing in June as it is an back pre season in July ffs,,,,,,,they'd be better off sorting grass roots football in general rather than wasting time with this nonsensical summer football
I reckon they will drive on with it.
It will be a national approach reading about it that the seasons will be within a calander Year, anywhere in between January and December. Like LOI, youd have to plan to not have it in Nov, Dec, Jan with weather surely.
Of course Feb be a risk too as we currently see.
They also dismissed sorting it around GAA. They also left it open to summer breaks. I'd say it will happen.
A million percent it’s a better move to go to a summer league, there’s basically a 4 month break between November and end of feb for any team playing on a grass pitch, so the choices are either man up and play in the muck or move to a summer league, it’s lads have to choose between GAA and football that’s their problem, most GAA lads don’t turn up for more than 3-4 games a season anyway, think that it’s the only way forward as lads who aren’t involved in gaa get disillusioned with getting match fit for 5-6 games and then having to do it again in February
Although I understand it would hurt clubs like coachford it’s up to the players to make their choice
The city sides would do well from it because the Gaa dosent impact them like the country sides. Any village side would struggle. Anytime the Gaa and Aul clash an the weather is dodgy opertuinity for a fast one is there,,,,,in the summer they'd be goosed.
Even recently Coachford v Grattan game on a Sunday morning an Abawabawakydoford had a game same time , apparently had lads play with the Gaa when the soccer lads got on with it .
Summer football means that's every week is it ;)
Most of the Aul is country sides now , so id be doubtful as to whether this would help or be the death knell for the Aul.
Moving outside the AUL overall it would have negative impacts in every league. In MSL I imagine teams like Park United, Fermoy, Macroom, Youghal, Kanturk to name a few that probably depend a lot on the GAA players. I'm sure CBL has quiet a few teams that have a few GAA players playing in off season with them.. it will do more damage than benefit to the leagues.
Don’t think anything can change or will ever change more teams would fold because the like of country teams would definitely struggle with Gaa players even this season alone you see carry on with coachford how it affected Greenwood who I think would be a lot closer to castleview only for players playing gaa Watergrasshill another that would be affected so don’t see how moving it would help the problem
Ideally the move to summer soccer is correct.
But the reality is something totally different , you would lose players for large parts of the season thus making clubs uncompetitive and dropping the standard and ultimately you will lose clubs.
Outside of the GAA the DDSL the biggest school boys league refused to move to summer soccer a few years ago and nothing was done they just continued with their regular season.
There is no easy solution here
Ah lads heavy rain all day tomorrow will we get any games to go to
One game gone already can see a total wash out.
If our national league is played in the summer would that not tell you that from the very top they feel it’s the better choice? Can’t get my head around it, I get some country teams will lose bodies, but the GAA is played mostly year round as most of the lads playing football are also playing hurling with that same club, I don’t think there’s as many bodies going to fall out as people think
I agree they should have it in line with national league.
Underage is a big issue but will have to adjust.
They said they are open to each league adjusting their summer break accordingly. I guess you could go mid like 10th July to after Aug Bank Holiday off?
I guess you could add on an effective but not overwhelming use of the night games?
This could make it easier to have an up front fixture list for April, May, June, July and August?
In terms of AUL, I see it greatly effecting likes of Banteer, Coachford, Watergrasshill, Rathcoole, etc. You'd hope the AUL committee at the time don't then just do their own things as they do now for GAA. Different sport, look after your own sport and teams and have a fair playing field.
Each team would possibly need bigger squads? Cover summer holidays. Turners Cross may be less available. And....most of us here may not have any involvement or interest anymore.
Just heard there off cathedral celic player down in dunnes that there game is off tomorrow!! Didnt aul send out email stating that no teams are to call off match until referee inspects pitch on match day???
Few games be called without ref having say for god sake I said it last week dopey email to be sending out.
Knocknaheeny v Banteer & Los Zarcos v Bweeng the only games left standing for tomorrow. Will these go ahead? Would like to get to a game.
A lot of rain last night but mental. Am I correct in saying that teams who lost home advantage in AOH will now have it back? Worst February we’ve gotten in a long time regarding games be off. Most leagues are in a good place games played bar one or two teams so once the evening games kick in they’ll be rattled off handy enough. Still tough on teams not having games for so long to stay interested. Especially if you know you might have nothing to play for.
Where does it state that theses or only games going ahead
Just talking to lad that lines knocka pitch he lined pitch yesterday said he just got called games off the referee that was doing game lives in terrace alongside knocka pitch called it so save to say no games will go ahead on grass again this weekend
Updated me arse you have inside info Baller haha so another wash out this sat so will anything go ahead tomorrow you think
If the games off ita reverts to the away team.
End of.
But only Cup games.
Grattan v Boscos last week , AOH ,,off due to the weather.......
Boscos v Grattan next week , AOH,,,,the joys get on with it .....
League games are completely different, your home game is ur home game , ur away game is ur away game., again end of.
Can lads involved with clubs not read the feckin rule book,,,,
The Aul rule book is local.
The MFA is regional , trumps the Aul.
The Fai is the daddy of them all an trumps them all.
Calm down Mr aul lads that don’t know only asking
I'd hold off on the Cathedral thing lads .
You just can't book an astro an expect the opposition to play.
Locally ( as in the AUL) you need to give adequate notice,(24 hours),,, MFA and FAI it's at least 48 hours notice .
But that is only changing the playing surface,,,, game goes ahead at the same stated time .
U change the time or date an both teams have to agree with the leagie an the league have to provide the relavnt grade of ref ,,,,,its not as simple as skme of ye think ,,,,,,,,,,whom ever Cathedral were to play may not of been able to field a side @ 11 on a an astro or a ref may not of been available,,,,,,clubs arnt always guilty
Young fellas ask , old fellas should know.
Fully aware of the rules, was just saying they “could” have played at the earlier time in the official time obviously didn’t suit Strand so Cathedral who must be desperate for a game like most teams got a friendly of course well within there rights as long to follow the rules….
Now now Jason it’s your job to know the rules wink wink and not through about all weather cause I team were sent to mayfield few weeks back to play a sat evening game that was down for 2 o clock and Aul made it clear they had to play which your well aware of so when it’s suits Aul they’ll make teams play end of.
Ref ,,,,,,il do this for ya
Once a fixture is officially posted then that's that, it's set in stone.
If the opposition are informed within reasonable time , ie within 24 hours of it being posted that there maybe a change in date or time then the opposition is within their rights to say no.
But in fairness to most clubs in the AUL they usually fulfill the fixture. Usually.
Ya can't force them to play outside the official time, that's why they ask you at the start of the season when can ya play.
In all fairness to the majority of teams , if when the fixtures are posted the week before , for say a Saturday at 2pm ya contact them ASAP to say you are switching it to an astro on Saturday at 6pm , that's refered to as reasonable notice.
If they came back an said no to 6pm on the same day , they can say no .
If the league can't get a ref for that time then ur goosed as well.
If you changed it to 4pm on a Sunday the opposition can say no.
The ref may also be unavailable .
In essence, fixtures are posted based on what all teams can adhere to , time and date wise.
Deferr from those agreed times has to be in agreement of all parties.
Not ur club.
The home team
The away team
The ref
The league
That's why grown ups are in charge.
Ref I dint mean to sound condescending but it's why I always tell lads, there's a rule book to read to educate yourself as to the rules.
Read it , inside an out .
Then when we are aware of an infraction we are are 110 right.;)
Rather than post something thats incorrect.
I’m speaking truth Jason my friend and what is it with you man last week asking for 12th to get involved now infractions talk ye aul men all the same ha
Ref , there's no hassle my friend , just if your going to be right , be right , otherwise ur wrong.
We are all entitled to opinions, but let's be factual at least.
Too many lads come on here with fancifull stories of this an that an it's all cods wallop.
Small but of thought , small bit of understanding of the rules, makes a huge difference.
I'll ignore the 12th man reference , bit childish of a responce from ya , a few others if I'm honest.
I'm all for inclusion not exclusion, hence why I made the remark.
The idea behind my thought process was not to deviate from what we are all here for , opinions on the Aul an the games an all the fantastic work that clubs do each week,,,,,not name calling
Yes it’s all about opinion everyone opinion
