actually, you are right, I don't know why I was confusing the ability to sign players after the Irish window and UK window.

Vinny Faherty training with Dundalk.Quote:
@McLaughlinGavin
@DundalkFC boss Stephen Kenny is hoping to sign former St Pat's striker Vinny Faherty who trained with the squad in Wexford at the weekend
By the sound of it, Dundalk are going to get way, way better value for their budget this year than last. Presuming they haven't raised it of course (I presume they haven't, but Mr Kenny can be very persuasive and this is the LOI..)
While the club have not confirmed the budget publicly, it appears that Stephen Kenny has a similar budget to what Sean McCaffrey started with last season. The general consensus is that SMC delivered very bad value - so an improvement is almost inevitable. How good remains to be seen, but SK seems to have assembled a decent squad that could cause some upsets along the way. A top half finish would be punching above the weight!
At one point last season the weekly budget was close to 9k.
At a conservative estimate that was 6k more than the panel was worth paying.
Mccaffrey's one and only appearance at Loi club level.
I think Kenny has assembled this squad for 6, 7k max.
Mid table with a good.home record (1 league win last season) would keep most of us happy !
The weed mostly.

Derry CEO getting frustrated with Dundalk over Marc Griffin's move.
The Derry Journal are hinting that it might go to tribunal.

This annoys me-
I have no bother with Derry getting this done asap, the lad has made it known that he wont be back in OP anytime soon, but the hot air being blown is serious.Just sign the lad and go to tribunal as said,no good mouthing out of ya Mr. Barrett.Quote:
It’s known that other club directors have become equally frustrated with the Griffin transfer, so much so that the club may well opt to take their chances by signing the player and allowing a Tribunal to decide the compensation fee to be paid to the “Lilywhites.”
Becoming a boring saga ok, his contact is completed at Dundalk, Derry want him, he wants to go but Derry wont pay up. We are talking about 10/15k here not huge money. Plus Dundalk need to pay down some of that to his junior club.
Open the cheque book Mr Barrett, or go to tribunal, these are the options.
Derry are greedy feckers. They are happy to rake in large transfer fees but refuse to pay a small development fee that Dundalk are due.
Nothing wrong with trying to get the best deal possible, but why be so disrespectfull about those who are negotiating on behalf of Dundalk (who are also entitled to try to get the best deal possible)?
The clear inferances from Mr Barrett is that Dundalk are being unreasonable.
This piece from the article is more illuminating
Perhaps when Derry realise that petty cash money won't do the trick, they can get this sorted. If that is too frustrating for the frazzled nerves of the Derry board, sign him and go to tribunal. Simple reallyQuote:
It’s believed Derry had offered a nominal figure with further finance making its way to Oriel Park provided Griffin made a specified number of first team appearances over the period of his contract.
Is Griffin highly rated by Dundalk fans? He was at Lansdowne the other night getting the goal of the year award. If Dundalk are only asking 10-15k it looks like the Derry management are all that convinced about him. Is the court case a factor here?
Looks like Elder is set for Limerick he was here last week, reading between the lines on the Codhead forum they wanted him like a porn star wants a scabby tool
Who? Was training with Shels? On who's forum?
Seems to be a trend going about,
Quigley bust up with Croly - Linked to Limerick
Purcell bust up with Dunne - Linked to Limerick
Dan Murray possibly not signing for Cork - Linked to Limerick
Griffin deal looks like falling through - Linked to Limerick
Davin O Neill not signing for Cork - Linked to Limerick
not one has ended up signing or even training with us yet we are the first to be linked with them.
Dean Marshall was with us for our game v Rovers last night. No idea if he's signed or signing. Another ex Bray player. We've a fair collection of them.
Well he's pictured in front of todays Derry Journal in full Derry City tracksuit and is being referred to as a Derry player, so it looks like it will go to tribunal if no compo is agreed
Lads Griffin is shi-te leave him at Dundalk.
Its Elding. Was with Leeds before if he was bothered at all he is a better player then Twigg problem is he probably isnt bothered.
He has a serious amount of clubs but in saying that his record at most isn't actually terrible.
Brat Tucker and Robert Maloney were trialists for us last night. Nobody knows what happened to Vinny Faherty.
Edit: wrong thread
