Thankfully Mccarthy didnt have that approach or Duff would be an international 'has been' many many moons ago.

I am not his accountant so I am not sure but if and hopefully when he moves to the Premiership in England, his wages will be doubled I suspect.
"Old fellas": they were probably in their mid-forties.
My wife used to have an apartment in Inchicore. Once, purely as a Freudian slip, she said "Remember when I used to live in Insecure" :)
rumours today that ramos is interested in him.
Nice to see him link up with keane at club level
Puyol:
"McGeady is a great player. I hope that we can control him, so that he does not cause us much damage."

Aiden McGeady is definitely a player I admire and he's been around for a while now with Celtic and the Irish national team. I expect him to really start making a big impression and these games in the Champions League are when he should be aiming to shine.
It really is up to him to show he can do it week in, week out and to be a crucial player on the big occasions. He faced Barcelona's Carlos Puyol and did very well. Puyol is a fantastic defender, so that's not too bad. He's still developing and I'm sure his time will come.
nor will it in the future....(just on this occasion I didnt want to drag it into a whose more Irish debate)
and I thought my answer you quoted before posing the question was as well.
baZmo - Bill is up to his old tricks - don't get sucked it - you might just receive a warning from Eirebhoy. Tread carefully.
how am I up to my old tricks? he asked me do I think Irish people would be the same if a son of an immigrant born here declared for another country whilst qouting me saying " Irish people would be the same if it was someone born here that declared for another country"
Not really like with like. But I suppose ya only have to look at the booing of players who have played for Rangers or booing or Roy Keane or no doubt what will be the booing of Stephen Ireland to see the Irish crowd are just as capable of booing players over perceived slights. Are Mageadys parents both not Scottish anyways?
True. But I suppose that just leaves us agreeing that there are just as many idiots in Ireland as there are in Scotland! :D
They are indeed. His paternal Grandfather is Irish. But there are other well documented reasons why he chose Ireland over Scotland.
Also what about the abuse shouted at some of our own players at matches? e.g. Robbie Keane and John O Shea. Our fans are well capable of shouting similar things to what was in the youtube clip. I think one of the factors that grates on the Scots more than anything was he was such a hot prospect and that he plays for one of the old firm.
Good to see McGeady smiling and having a laugh as he always seems a bit depressed. :)

Zambrotta and Sylvinho the 2 full backs for Barca tonight. Puyol back at centre half. Celtic are playing 4-5-1 so McGeady might play in a central role.
He's having to play very deep tonight and every time he gets the ball there's literally 3 players on him. Good experience for him anyway.
this game is exactly what im talking about, mcgeady needs to be showing for the ball coming down to pick the ball up and relieve the defence....ive only seen nakamura do anything like that, mcgeady should be trying to get into this big time.
ya they are too smiley alright :D
Naka had the same problem in the first leg though. He's having to cover for the full back for most of the game.
mcgeady tried the kevin kilbane special there and looked like a flute.
he is coming into it more now, but constantly flagged by 2 alright, celtic need to be smarter, great cross there though. his crossing has definitely improved since the games last autumn
in this sorta game samaras should have been playing way earlier.
Are Barcelona as dominant as they were in Glasgow? (Am watching Milan-Arsenal) so looking for updates!
yes they are, its mad to think that in the last 16 of the CL there would be such a mismatch in clubs. Celtic are coming back in but thats only cos barca know they have it won and taken the foot off plus they have looked like scoring everytime they have gone forward.
Barca had loads of chances but it was nowhere near as one sided a game as the first leg was. Hartley and Naka misplaced about 3 passes between them out of about 60. McGeady did well enough. Brown good in patches. Off the ball Celtic were terrible as usual but on the ball they looked much, much better so I'm happy enough.
still has lots to prove , doing well in scotland is not much he is a big fish in a small pond so to speak, i think working with trapatoni and brady will help his career no end, i feel if he came to england at mo he would end up in the liam miller class . a good prospect but still needs to be more consistent in europe and for ireland imo
ya thats a very good assessment ramsfan.
Liam Miller can't even trap a ball? - Mc Geady is in a different class. How anyone can say that it would be better for him to remain at Celtic is bonkers. Whoever says this generally harps back to Miller/Stokes. Maloney and Petrov doing good things at Villa at the moment - why can't Mc Geady. I have no doubt that he is more than capable of taking the premiership by storm. He does not have to remain in the SPL for another two/three years to do this - he could do it yesterday.
