agreed - fantastic movie. Shane Meadows is one of the best British movie makers of all time and pretty underrated too.

Don't think I have seen any Meadows films apart from This is England. What do you recommend?
A Room For Romeo Brass is SUPERB but even better in my opinion is Dead Mans Shoes (which BohsPartisan pointed me in the direction of).
Both are funny with dark moments, which is very much his style. Witty and socially observant. Not to mention the brilliance of Paddy Considine in both.
If you check em out, let me know what you think...
Saw Away we Go and enjoyed it. Not a classic but an enjoyable movie. This is England is great I agree.
watched "The Informers" last night. Its a movie set in the 80's covering the pre-AIDS era of lavish excess of drug use and promiscuity. Stars Winona Ryder, Billy Bob Thornton, Mickey O'Rourke and Kim Basinger.
Sounds decent?
Absolute, total GASH. Some pointless storylines, no character development and overall just weird.
Ill give it 1/10. The one point is for Amber Heard getting her funbags out in almost every scene she is in. And her slamming hot body.

I think i might have posted this before but i cant remember ever reading a book from start to finish. I dont read books but even the odd one i might have picked up id never finish because of boredom. I couldn;t keep my head out of Anvil. ANyway ive never looked forward so much to buying a DVD as this one when it comes out. IS it a worldwide release on the 6th of October? Plus it will be my little contribution to them for sticking to it, through everything. WHat a book, What a story. \m/
Thanks for the heads up on the Meadows films lads.
As we get older and more cynical it gets more difficult to get that warm fuzzy feeling but I had it after renting out Anvil. Very funny in parts. The bit where they both get really intense and start crying is bloody hilarious.
Watched Raising Arizona again last night.
It'd been years since I last saw it and it's still as good as ever. I found it hilarious and it also has a great soundtrack.
watched the firm at last week , my advice would be not to go and see it , the worst hooligan movie made yet
saw The Invention of Lying last night
it's ok, not great. Has a decent idea behind it - no one can lie about anything, so adverts just state facts, movies are just lectures delivered by one guy, no religion, etc - until Ricky Gervais creates the lie, and he's the only one who can, and since everyone else always tells the truth, everyone believes everything he says.
but it's not enough of an idea to hold a 100 minute movie. Might have worked better as a one hour TV special IMO
Body Of Evidence starring Madonna and Willem Dafoe. Madonna in probably a career defining performance, giving an early glimpse of the potential that was to come to fruition in Dick Tracy and Swept Away. Dafoe has never nailed a character so well. 9/10.
saw zombieland last night, good for a few laughs, id say 6-7 out of 10
zomibieland i'd give it an 8
