Chris Ryder would be one, there is Michael Gibbons and young Cunningham the goalkeepers they are coming on.

Starting with the U.12s, they drew 3-3 away to Swinford. The U.14A team beat Ballina Town 3-1, the U.14B team were defeated by an unprintable scoreline away to Ballinrobe Town (Juan Pablo would be smiling at that one!!:D) and the U.14C team, after their 9-2 demolition of Claremorris B, drew 3-3 with Ballina Town C.
The C team beat Conn Rangers on the rugger pitch 1-0 with Johnny Walsh netting. The B team went down to a shock 3-2 defeat to Urlaur United with Mark McNally getting a brace while the galacticos beat Iorras Aointaithe or the team formerly known as Erris United (for those who doesn't know anything about Irish:p) 3-1 with Kipper (golden boot contender:eek:), Keano and Cam getting a goal each. Although there is still room for improvement, it would have been the best out of the three league performances to date.
The C team travel to Louisburgh to take on Clew Bay United. Pools panel says away win.
The B team travels to Glenhest. Pools panel says away win.
The galacticos travel to Ballyheane. Pools panel says away win.
Renovater must be terrified of the 'Port after the severe beatings of last year.
Glenhest will be a good tussle. We all know about Maccers and co.
Clew Bay are an unknown quantity and they will be treated with respect.
For all the boys and girls that browses on this wonderful site, where people are typing by day and by night, just to let you know that there is a Youths Presentation Night in the Wyatt Hotel on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 7:30pm. All the gongs of the last year will be given out when the the Covey Cubs will pat themselves on the back. All are welcome, including the Renovater!!!:p:D;)
A bit over confident with B and C team. B team are deservedly bottom by all accounts and are away to Glenhest. What makes you think they'll win. Clew Bay are going well this year and I can see them beating your C team well.
I agree the first team will beat Ballyheane as always :D
Whose playing for the B's that they doing so sh*t? ie. Urlar, they aren't much good at all and they beat them
Was at the game yesterday and thought that the Port are gone well back
The Heane started well and were on top for the first 30 but then the Port got the ball down and started to take control. In fact they totally dominated the last Ten. Although in fairness the keepers had little to do.
A good few regulars missing for the Port and the back ups dont seem quite good enough just yet. Coyne and Conroy both out missing through injury for the Heane but Chris and Mark filled in admirably. Ash also played solidly and held the ball up well.
The Spanish lad introduced by the Port added a little colour to an otherwise dour occasion. The large away support was as vibrant as ever despite the lack of vibrancy on the field.
Heane to finish sixth. The port Third. Relegation decided already..... season over really :D
5 points dropped already this early in the season??? not a good start lads!!! celtic back to the joys of the mayo league again, can't see them droppin points as easy!!
Louisburgh Lion should have netted from a corner in the first half. Has been disappointing to date. Couple of injuries. DH wasn't there. El Matador made his debut and looks potentially good. The killer pass wasn't lethal. Rare to see a 0-0 game.
Break will do us good at the weekend!!:D
There will be a quiz to raise money for the U.14 team that will be going to the Umbro Galway Cup in August taking place in Blouser's pub on Thursday night at 9:30. It is €20 per table and it promises to be a good night.:D
Looks like Thunder will have to eat humble pie after all.
By Wednesday's nite he will be down and out.
should have reinforcement my the next game Ballyheane finish 3rd
Do Like the new set up in Ballyheane, Some thing you can model off
Will Delia Smith bake the pie for me??
What, stuck in some shopfront drinking out of a brown paper bag?
Is it the 19th Infantry Battalion of the Ballymagash Regiment?:D There is a better chance of Zamunda winning the World Cup than Ballyheane coming third in the Super League.
You mean the Kindergarten?
Sweet God, do you come out of the Westport zone at all, or are you a big like the Dubs who thing nothing lies outside the pale??
Where did your C team play last weekend, or do you think that there is a soccer pitch out in the middle of Clew Bay ? :p
People from Louisburgh have and still do play underage with Westport United, but with Louisburgh now having their own team for the last 6 or 7 years then once the players reach 17 or 18 they are beginning to sign with Clew Bay.
I think if you look closer you will actually find a Castlebar man actually represents your club also :D
Any underage results tonight?
It's a bit inaccurate to say that Louisburgh lads play move on to play with Clew Bay when they reach 17 or 18. Look at young Torphy for example playing with Celtic. There are nunmerous other lads too playing for Westport under age from Louisburgh who will not move across as they've grown up playing with the same lads. Dont think Dessie moved over to Clew Bay at 17 or 18? Did he? :D Soccer is way behind in Louisburgh at the moment with no under age team outside of the schools football and its a shame because there are soom very good players from the age of 12-17 who should be playing but cant because its too much to go into Westport 3 or 4 times a week in order to play soccer. Instead they play gaelic as there is an excellent setup in Louisburgh for them.
Dont get me wrong Clew Bay are getting it together, but the youth system is not in place and until it is, all these young lads will go by the wayside...
So you're basically saying that players want to go to bigger teams where they will be guaranteed success, thats why torpey went to celtic and not to westport what have westport to offer him?? for his age group celtic have won all they can includin the fai youth cup. plus the chance of playing eircom league football. players want to go to bigger and more succesful clubs, you are right there, thats why so many players come to celtic!!!!
Guaranteed success? your successes have been few and far between over the years.
One fai youth cup was a hollow victory with the outsiders travelling from all over mayo to jump on the bandwagon.
Think about going to the eircom league when you have won the fai junior cup and there is no chance of either happening.
The only thing ye have to show for dykes`s tenure is an overdrawn bank balance.
I didnt say "It's a bit inaccurate to say that Louisburgh lads play move on to play with Clew Bay when they reach 17 or 18", read it again, I said "Beginning to sign with Clew Bay". It does not mean that they move onto Clew Bay.
Was Clew Bay formed when Dessie was 18? I think you will find that it was probably not, and if it was was in its very infancy, so of course he was not going to drop down to a Division 2 team :D
Agree totally about the youth system though, some very good schools players there, but unless they go straight to senior there is no other option.
"Foreign Legion" - If you understand the term you just used you will understand that it refers to a team made up of complete foreigners, I am afraid you are slightly off the mark there again with you knowledge of the local football scene, back to the drawing board for you ;)
They are based in Louisburgh, but have a combination of Westport and Louisgurgh players in it, they have one Junior team which competes in the Division 2a. They wont like me saying this, but it is essentially a group of lads who have got together to play football for the crack. Maybe like a pub team.
"Foreign Legion" is a figure of speech for people like you who take everything literally, it is meant to identify all the players you have in your ranks from the many towns in Mayo, you should know this a good part of your team is not from Castlebar or anywhere near it.
obviously players want to come to celtic thats why they are there if anybody is good ebnough they should play 4 da best team available to them, which is celtic, a team that is lookin to the future and not a team that is goin nowhere, e.g youth set up!!! is every galway utd player or sligo rovers player from galway r sligo?????? if you're good enough to play for a better team then go 4 it!!!!! thats why no one signs 4 westport ye have tried to bring a few but they didn't last long!!! ye were also always givin out about celtic bringin in dykes at the start and him bringin in players, ye were payin brendan o connor more and he brought in a player r 2 and where did that get ye???????? tryin to follow in celtics success but celtic appointed someone with badges and lots of experience ye made a bit of a mess of that 1!!!!!
surely gf didn't use the word 'foreign legion'?think you owe the man an apology there about his knowledge of the local game.if you read the post that the word was mentioned in i think that you'll find that it was levelller that said that.maybe try taking up your grievances with him instead?;)
I think you will find that you appointed the gray one after us winning the Junior Cup, You then brought in players from a LOI Cub to try to emulate our success, you are the ones who have gone all out to match our acheivements and made a mess of it.
Yes BOC brought in a couple of players last season and where did it get us?
We won the Mayo League and the Westaro Cup last season. Alot more than you did.
You make pathetic arguments with respect to your clubs player recruitment policy. Galway United and Sligo Rovers are "Professional" Clubs which are businesses and need results in order to keep the club financially viable.
As was pointed out earlier you have an inflated sense of success at your club. You are always spouting about the future, you have recruited all the players from other clubs that you could, and have twice the population of Westport and you still bottled it in major competitions once again.
If the gray one leaves there will be a mass exodus.
When we get our new ground players from all over the county will want to play for us.
