Well done to Pike enjoy it lads i know ye wil.
Congrats to pike for winning the fai junior cup
well done to pike on winning the fai today.great to see the trophy back in limerick and great for all the lifelong pike supporters who in fairness to them travel everywhere to support there team.well done to all involved
also would just like to say well done to declan casey who commentated on the radio for todays game.he gave a very fair observation of the game and was close to tears at the end. in fairness he put alot of work in over the years getting pike where they are and deserves as much credit as everybody else involved.fair play declan.
congratulations to pike rovers on winning fai today.a very good result for limerick soccer.alan barry and keith hartnett getting there 40th and 36th goals of the season respectively.thats some return.
Congrats to Pike from a St Michaels man. Very poor game overall but best team won.
Best team won on the day,St michaels keeper made another blunder like he did against clonmel, huge crowd down there,
Congratulations to all in Pike Rovers. Great to see the FAI Cup back in Limerick.
unlucky to saint michaels. seems clonmel took the wind out of their sails last week. still a great side. what was the attendance? should have been a good crowd
my guess would be 2500-2750 hard to judge it. The main stand was full with slight overspill of about 100 in either end behind goal. good atmosphere with everyone in the one stand.
poor game neither team were at there best im sure pike wont care though now they have there hands on the cup. colbert was massive loss in mjc semi he really kept jimmy carr quiet today. davey ryan played very well when he camo on 2nd half for pike
Great crowd down there today and a great atmosphere. A draw would've been fair, Michael's probably shaded it but neither team played to their potential. Mick's were really looking likely to score the game's third goal during a 20 minute spell in the second half but it didn't happen. Saying that Breen cleared off the line twice for Michael's near the end of the first half. Best for Pike were Colbert, Mullins and Enright. Mullins did brilliant to win the ball back and drive on to win the free that won the FAI for Pike, to be fair Hartnett struck it well but...
great result for pike and for limerick, deserving winners on the day ,not the greatest match but wont worry about that, thought enright had a stormer, poor error by micheals keeper for the goal but only fitting that hartnett as pike captain should score.brilliant support from limerick at the game.
Congrats to all the Pike people, there are many people to have been involved behind the scenes over the past few years that have helped them to this success. Well done to all.
To the management and squad, fantastic achievement and a rich reward for all the hardwork ye have put in.
Finals are rarely a footballing spectacle bud no matter what level they are played at.im sure both sides were very cagey and nervous today in what would of been a massive game infront of a huge crowd in junior soccer terms.pike won the trophy for 2011 and they deserve it no matter what way they went about winning it.
the lads have a winners medal in there pocket.i think your post is very angry/bitter to be honest
Look at the end of the day the pike lads have a medal yes and credit to them, they had the tag of red hot favourites all year which must have been a weight and the fai was not just won today but in places and on days such as athenry etc where they showed how to battle. The game itself was not a spectacle. Pike had by far the better of the first
half and should have been ahead at half time. Pa Moloney was a huge loss to pike at half time. Michaels totally dominated the second half upto the last 3 minutes. Michaels had a glorious chance at the start of the second half to go ahead but did not take it and were made to rue the chance missed. Both pike goals were terrible mistakes by the keeper and not to be taking away from the shot for the last goal the keeper watched it all the way and left it squirm under him. He had got away with one just before this also. All in all and on the balance of balls cleared off the line and half chances created pike probably shaded it. Moloney was best player on show until forced off I thought. Well done to pike it's been a long hard year for them bu worth it all.
Congrats to Pike. Great to see the trophy coming back to Limerick. Overall it was a poor game. Fair result would've been extra time & penalties. Man of the match should have gone to Enright.
Firstly, congratulations to Pike Rovers on their win. In my opinion they just about deserved it. For the neutral it was a terrible game. Pike dominated the first half opening the scoring on 20 minutes through Alan Barry availing of a goalkeeping error. they should have gone further ahead but St.Michaels cleared several off the line. Then saints scored the best goal of the game from a well rehearsed corner to leave it 1-1 at the break. St.Michaels had their best chance early in the second half and should have scored. The game then deteriorated badly. Five minutes from the end a free-kick from well outside the box was allowed squirm under the body of the saints keeper. The attendance was just over 2,000 with support for each team about 50-50 - hard to say as everybody wore green and white. Pike captain keith Hartnett got man of the match - would not have been my choice - perhaps enright or Colbert - but certainly not Hartnett.
do institutions have a league between them?
Congrats to Pike from all at Westport United. We all still have great memories from our visit down there in 2005.
rushy no need for that kind of talk bout a player this is a football site thats what most on here are interested in.
hartnett man of the match is a joke. his goal should never have went in other than that he was out of game bar winning few headers. well done pike they just about deserved it against a saints team who never got going bar 1 or 2. tough on paul tobin and chalkie losing 4 finals but if any team will be back its saints. colbert or mullins would be my man of the match
trevor coz was man of match no question had harnett and kav in pocket
Congratulations to Pike rovers on their historic win today. It was a scrappy game which was ultimately won by an error when it was looking like extra time.Got to feel sorry for the saints keeper.
Man of the match for me was Colm Enright,he turned back the clock with a great performance.I am particularly happy for him as he now has deservedly won the lot domestically.A good clean competetive player who is also a very decent guy.Well done!
Any one of the pike back four could have got man of the match, cosgrave had kavanagh in his pocket, dint know what match you were at pal, what time will lowrys be open,or is it open?
i thought michaels shaded it slightly but a draw would have been a fair result, feel sorry for breen in goals, enright or colbert were excellent at the back, davey ryan was immense when he came on at HT, i would love to know who picks the man of the match because Hartnett was ominous all day yesterday, complete joke. well done to pike. thought a few of the michaels supporters should be ashamed of themselves especially after one of them interrupting the minutes silence, not all of them are as bad as that though. i wonder will this michaels team fall apart, any thoughts? we mite get one or two cast offs next season hopefully!
Congrats to Pike. Great to see the trophy coming back to Limerick. great day out
now is as good a time to let everyone know, the orientexpress is on the rails and huffing and puffing away.Would like to congrats to ST micks for making PIKE fight all the way.as for man of the match colbert enright mullins borris ,on the end of the day the whole team did there bit,ROLL ON THE HOOPS.
congrats to pike and unlucky to saints. the bulk of this saints team are in their early/mid 20s and have no doubts they will be back and lets not forget they are the munster junior champions and have a cup final fri night so all in all an excellent season. i heard declan considine spoke very well in the saints dressing room afterwards and even proposed a pre season friendly so fair play to the man and congrat's again to him and his team. colbert at right full should have gotten man of match.
have any of the michaels fans here that chawkie is signin for st kevins in 2011/12 and breen and higgins are on his way to Limerick in the LOI?
that is the same rumour that goes around about james every season because he trains with st kevins. cant see why it would be true this year. dont know about the other 2 boys, wonder if they would be up for such a committment? no doubt they are more than good enough though. im sure saints will do everything in their power to keep the squad together
its an annual rumour with chalkie eventually he may play with them but doubt it will be next season.breeno, higgins and jimmy carr are good enough for league of ireland but cant see them leaving saints

Sat 4 June 5.45 FAI Sligo Rovers v Pike Rovers The Showgrounds
Well done to Declan, Adrian, Eddie and the lads. A fantastic day, and brilliant night. Let the hoops roll on next year for FAI number 2!!!
It's definitely the Friday. Was scheduled for 5.45 Saturday originally but would be bigger crowd there Friday night so I'd imagine that's why (maybe Pike had agreed with this as they'll get more of a cut from the gate?). Our usual kick off time of Saturday @ 7.45 isn't an option cos Ireland are playing.
