No you have me, I must have been too focused on the game

I agree with 'The1' if I am to believe what he thinks.....NCW would be better & stronger ambassadors for the Desmond League going forward....
All makes for a good one at the weekend which is only a positive thing for the league though
Can we talk about football instead of who's who?
After playing R.keale this weekend, NCW have broadford (away), glin (home), b.garry (away), s.side(home), and abbeyfeale(away)
I can only see them dropping points against r.keale, broadford and abbeyfeale.
after this wknd, Rkeale have Abbeyfeale to play twice, Broadford (away), Askeaton (Home), Carrig (Home)
it all depends on the teams that have nothing left to play for. if they have stopped training and just turn up to make up the numbers it will be an easy run in for both teams. however i doubt the likes of broadford and abbeyfeale will roll over easily, and glin always seem to up their game vs NCW so itl be interseting.
I reckon the winner of this weekneds game will take the title, hopefully itl be a cracker!
I remember a couple of years back a couple of the NCW youth(possibly U16) players beating the opposition players with hurleys after a soccer game. I think the players involved got a year suspension.I think it was against Creeves. Can anyone clarify this?
In terms of soccer they are probably the best representives of the desmond league.
As for being ambassodors for the league, no i dont think so. I think that would be Abbeyfeale, their soccer isnt the greatest but they have a wonderful set-up back there with maybe the exception of the mounds of earth on each goaline. and the town itself has less of a reputation
Lads who cares who is the best ambassadors for the league. This sunday we have the top two teams of the league and prob the top two footballing sides meeting each other. Whoever wins it, i think will go on and win the league. Hope its a great match with good football to watch and best of luck to both teams.
Can't believe our Observer reporter said that Glin v Abbeyfeale is going to be the big game on Sunday. I don't know what planet that man is on to be honest.
I also am of the opinion that the Desmond Cup final will feauture these two teams so we should be in for a cracking finish to the year. Thats what its all about, its a pity broadford started playing good football so late in the year. If they put their minds to it they would have given the league a good lash.
well said
What does anyone make of this new league format down for proposal next week??
ya i must agree with everything u just said there...who ever wins on sunday willl win the league..shud be a good game and hopefullly some goals and not a nil all draw.mr nelligan saying that glin rover and abbey utd is the match of the weekend??? sure aren't abbey playing so it must be ha ha..i also think that the desmond cup final will be between newcastle west and rathkeale..SHUD BE A GOOD ONE
Fair enough Sky Blue, I wouldn't be up on such NCW happenings unfortunately. Definitely massive at the weekend. If I'm honest I'd like to see Rathkeale do it, haven't threatened this much in years & this should be their opportunity.....should they take it.....
Are the Killeaney games off again this week ?
Desmond Youths Cup Final
NCW won 3-2 after a pretty ordinary match which NCW dominated in the first half and scored 2 goals by O'Callaghan from a corner and Kavanagh on a through ball. Ballingarry got a goal back after 60 mins. and equalised in the last minute. In the meantime the Ballingarry keeper had made a number of fine saves. However NCW prevailed and supersub Delee got the winner in added time to give NCW the win they deserved. Kavanagh got Man of the Match though the Ballingarry keeper was my choice. Pity that the crowd was so small, especially as the two teams served such an exciting match only a week previously. Well done to both teams for providing great entertainment over the two games. I don't know who scored for Ballingarry

New league format proposal:
Play the first round of league games (9 each) after this the league gets divided into 2 groups of 5.
The top 5 then go off and play for the title (4 games) the bottom 5 play to avoid relegation.
Its up to the team to get as many points as possible in the first 9 games.
You end up playing 13 games a season
Sound nuts to me but thats the gist of it I am led to believe, any know any more???
New league format proposal
What idiot came up with this nonsense? It's done in the SPL and hasn't worked out very well there. If it's not broken don't fix it, leave things as they are I say
The problem as I see it would be that the 4th and 5th place teams could really have nothing to play for and on the other side the same applies to the 6th and 7th place sides. I know it still happens now but I think it's a lot better when the top teams have to battle with sides trying to avoid the drop. Some teams do get hard away games against midtable sides, who having nothing at stake give it a real go against the league leaders.
