his names ciaran langan, it wasnt actually 11 wides there was a 4 wides and a 2 wides there :D he has a fairly unique bowling action, not entirely unlike Malinga's, most of the rest of the bowling was pretty wide too 33 wides in all. That rothman guy who made 77 was the difference between the 2 sides i've never seen someone play and miss without getting an edge so many times:D (frustrated bowler talking). I managed to continue my amazing batting form, with a 4th ball duck. Bowling figures not bad tho 9-1-39-1, 15 runs off the last over:mad:

It was a good day for Leinster sides in the First Round of the Irish Senior Cup, LCU sides winning eight of their twelve match-ups against teams from the Northern unions. However, star-studded Railway Union, fielding internationals such as Kevin O'Brien, Trent Johnston and Thinus Fourie, were knocked out at Limavady. Rush racked up a monstrous 381-7 in their 215 run victory over Lisburn and Leinster's Keeley Todd scored 173* in his side's win over CSNI.

edit: you just logged out so I did a Google search. It would appear it's only used by schools? The grass doesn't seam to be cut very tight so such wouldn't be too surprising.

Damn, not exactly high in the glamour stakes! Never realised cricket was popular enough for clubs to have eight teams. I suppose career longevity has a lot to do with it.

Myself and Schumi were flat hunting last week and came across a listing for a flat which was adjacent to Leinster cricket pitch in Rathmines. It had a balcony facing on to the pitch so would have made for perfect viewing but sadly it turned out the place was already gone by the time we saw the listing.

i wonder how often those flats lose windows? I know we had to put giant nets round rush to protect the houses, mind you Rush isnt the biggest ground

Anyone who wants to see England's Ed Joyce in action, trot along around lunchtime to College Park (admission free, of course) to see him play for a Trinity President's XI against DU. Starts at 2 p.m.

Ireland restricted Warwickshire to 211-7 off their 50 overs in today's Friends Provident Trophy match at Stormont. Bowling: Rampaul 10-0-53-2, Eaglestone 5-0-26-1, O'Brien 9-2-45-1, Cusack 6-0-20-1, McCallan 10-0-28-0, Kidd 10-0-37-2.

Decent effort from the bowling attack, but the Irish middle order (3-6 are Stirling, Cusack, White and O'Brien) looks a little brittle. It will be a tough chase on a slow track.

Ireland 97/2 off 20 overs. Strydom led the way with an excellent 35 off 30 balls. It will be disappointing if they don't chase it down from here. Porterfield and Cusack at the crease.

Ireland won with four wickets and 3.2 overs to spare, Kevin O'Brien finishing the game off with a six.

Porterfield held the innings together with a slow-paced 69 as most of the middle order got out after making starts. Strydom, Stirling and O'Brien were impressive with the bat. A good win for Ireland, probably not as prestigious a scalp as those attained in the past few years but thoroughly laudable nonetheless.

Nice to N O'Brien doing well recently, I have a feeling that England might want to pinch, a batting catcher is something they are having trouble with.

Our seconds were in a nail biter yesterday in Rush and lost by one wicket. Match report posted already.

There's unlikely to be a repeat performance at Stormont today. Leicestershire posted an imposing 245/5. Rampaul, McCallan and Cusack bowled well, O'Brien and Kidd went for millions.

Ireland are going well in response thanks to another promising innings from William Porterfield (65 off 79) and are currently 108/3. Cusack and Wilson at the crease. It's unlikely to be enough to overhaul Leicestershire's total with three wickets down, though.

Ireland collapsed to 160, an 81-run defeat.

we had one ourselves today playing pembroke they made 210 all out off 37.5 overs, we got it for 6 wickets with 3 balls left. needed 82 off 12 overs at one point. on a personal note bowling figures were roughly 2-40 and i have now faced 7 balls in three games this year, 3 ducks. i will score a run this year.

I played my first recreational game in ages yesterday. 8-0-31-2, my leg-breaks still don't break very much (I pretended they were topspinners and all part of the plan), both wickets were ripping googlies! Also successfully pulled off the flipper a few times, although one attempted slider was almost wide of the adjacent pitch...

Fortunately I didn't have to bat (the one thing that discourages me from getting back into competitive cricket.)

I got 6 on Saturday, all outside edges. Not too suprisingly I was eventually caught at slip.

rematch this weekend Rush 4ths vs Sandyford 3rds in Sandyford, meant to mention earlier pembroke didn't have a match ball and had to borrow ours :rolleyes:

Heard nothing about that, TheBoss, I know the sledging in the county games can get a bit torrid.

Good news for the Rush/Drogs contingent, Fintan McAllister has been called up to the Ireland squad for the games against Warks and Northants. As the only specialist wicket-keeper in the squad he's certain to start.

I heard that earlier alright, great news for finto, his 150 in the cup obviously came at just the right time

one of our players bumped into the team at the airport earlier and said finto would be starting

No debut for Finto today, Ireland's game at Warwickshire was abandoned as a no-result due to rain.

:D:D Words fail me. I was only called in to play in that game an hour before the start. At least you got to bat ;)

3 including a stumping off a wide. Your keeper did well at everything except taking catches. He dropped a mere 3 I believe, including our captain twice who went on to make a mere career high score of 83*. That was also the highest score our 3rd team has ever made!

That just sounds funny, cause is generally a keepers job :D

I can not believe, we lost by 1 run today with all overs used.

I forgot Ireland were playing today. :o So much cricket on it slipped my mind. That's a sickener alright, Notts made 241/6 (Rampaul 3-40, O'Brien 2-52.) Disappointing to see that collectively, the spinners (McCallan, Kidd, White) went for 91 off 17 overs. Although I suspect that Kidd was allowed to bowl his full allocation for the sake of giving him experience.

O'Brien managed 93* off 75 balls on what must have been a damp, seaming pitch with the weather as it has been. Great effort. Strydom was next best with 49. O'Brien and McCallister (5*) were at the wicket at the end. Very disappointing, but it must have been a great performance.

EDIT: It seems six were required to win off the final ball but O'Brien could only hit it to square leg for four.
