Mick Kelly Brought them to the Mayo F.A Cup final. As regards the Fundraising rule players wishing to sign have to sell 5 50 season lotto tickets or the same in 2 tickets . It might seem a bit harsh but players have to have an input in the club. I have a feeling alot of clubs will follow suit. It is essential as i would say alot of clubs committees are sick and tired of doing all the work and players getting away with doing Sweet fanny adams.2 Ballyheane committee told me thay were impressed by the idea. ;) Whatya think
Can you elaborate on this and tell me what these Crazy decisions are. Im involved with the league at club level and this is the first year the league was run properly. I dont agree with every little thing however i think the committee ran aN EXCELLENT LEAGUE this year so havent a clue where youre coming from. As for leadership thats pure waffle. Both Michael Jennings and Jeremey Dee done good work this season and i always found them helpful and accomodating to deal with so what are you on about
I am surprized to here that there is a problem, cant for the life of be think where its coming from.
I would of thought that the Ladies where in good hand in the Leadership of Jermy Dee.
They may have a funding problem due to sucess, but thats a new challenage.
Anyone at Milebush Park today to see the Mayo U.12s against Sligo/Leitrim? Mayo may have lost 2-1 but the football was absolutely fantastic to watch. A great game from a purist's point of view.:ball: Pity about the weather between wind/thunder.:(
i say fair play to the snugboro commitee for sticking rigidly with their rules of fundraising before you play for the club.theres far too many lads out there playing for their respective clubs who dont have any interest in the day to day running of the clubs so long as they get their game at the end of the day.if all clubs were to adopt this attitude maybe we'd see a little more commitment to their clubs.as you've stated its always the same lads at each club who are left doing all the donkey work while the other lads just turn up expecting the pitch to be lined, nets up etc each sunday.lads need to get off their asses and get more involved with their clubs.
on another note i was greatly surprised to see westport utd being dumped out of the cup by heatmerchants last week.i played against heatmerchants about five years ago while playing with glenisland utd.no disrespect to the glenisland lads who were playing at the time but we were a mediocre team to say the least and we hammered heatmerchants 5-0.surely they haven't come on that much in a couple years??i could be wrong!!
Each club can bring 3 (?) reps. Up to club to decide who goes - usually chairman, secretary and an other. Each club gets one vote at the meeting. Cross Celtic has the same power as Castlebar Celtic.
How are clubs getting on with training? Very hard to train with the lack of astro pitches hard to put up with. Any sign of Ballinrobe developing a pitch?
I stand corrected on the Mayo FA Cup. I think the fundraising rule is a great idea. It is about time players started sharing the burden of running their club. I know Castlebar Celtic membership is €130 (set by the players) and youths €80 (covers buses for the year). I did not know that the Boro had a lotto. The €50 ticket is that for the year or six months. Lets hope all clubs take this idea on board and we you will soon see which players are committed to the club.
Will he bring any players from Celtic? Any new players signing for the town, I heard that Robert Moore was training with the Boro. Are all their new players staying for a second year or will they go back to their original clubs.I think Town will stay in Div 1 without any problem.

Thanks. We are of the same thinking so. Hope other clubs realise this too
Ya its for a yearly Lotto. And the membership is 150. Youre last line sums it up C.T :)[/QUO
membership seem very dear, or is that the going rate for most if not all the super leauge team's ??
Welll think for one moment,it could cost upto 10,000 to run a club with two junior teams.
so you may pick up 5000 from membership, but you still got to find the other 5000 if you ask me membership in any club should be 200 per player. wnen you think of the fine pitches they now play on.I also think clubs like the League give a good service.:)
i think 200 per player is way over priced. and does membership at150-200 Include full Insurance, to cover a players wage's and medical bills if he was to break his leg and out of work for 3-6months or he was to tear a hamstring and needed 10-15 session's of physio @ about 40 a session ???
You must be joking. The insurance cover is very limited and will not include physio. The membership fee covers league affiliation, pitches, training equipment, refs, fines, etc..
The league affiliation covers insurance - Public Liability to third parties, (clubhouses/carparks need specific mention in the policy and may cost more) some limited (€1,000??) for personal injury/loss of earnings for players and no cover for physio.
A player cannot expect to get the type of cover mentioned by grape vine for €3 a week. If players are concerned that they are not covered, and generally they should be concerned, they should seek their own cover. CICE provide general accident cover including sports injuries. People should beware that the cover can be costly and the salesmen can be very pushy. Make sure you know exactly what you are buying and read the small print. Players with dependant spouses or children or players with mortgages or other committments should have seperate cover. Due to the number of accidents and the costs most clubs will be unable to help.
Any other suggestions? Can/do clubs offer additional cover? Any other companies offering cover apart from CICE?
YNWA
In our case it is 150 euro per year for membership.
Over the last 2 seasons I have had up on 10 physio sessions for "club" related injuries, all out of my own pocket, also the fact that I was off work for 2 days and the fact I don't get paid when I am off sick left me well out of pocket.
But that is something I accept as we are not a "pro" club with big money behind us, using lotto tickets to pay for our refs, washing the jerseys and that.
Your dead right yop. Its good that you accept it too. I hear alot of players moaning about " will the club pay for my Physio bla bla bla" The same feckers wouldnt sell a lotto ticket if it was the end of the world. However its also important that clubs dont pay injury bills for the "star" players and not the ordinary Joe soaps or this will open up a huge can of worms
i find it very strange that you think it is good for a player to "ACCEPT IT" if he get's injuryed playing ball, if a person was to get injuryed at work i'am sure they would expect there employer to cover the cost???(not that it affect's as i retired now) but having play both soccer & GAA in time and got alot more injuryies play the GAA, the GAA where always behind the players and covered all there injury costs, which only seem correct to me.. look's like soccer is really falling behind the GAA in player welfare dept.:( :o
Lads,
How will Mayo get on this weekend away to Donegal - think it be alot tougher than people expects as i think they have a few injuries worries going into the game
I think we all a agree on one thing, football does come at aprice. Some must pay more than others.wheather its 200 or 100 one at the end of the day must make ends meet. and no club offical should have to bare the cost, because of some selfish footballers, who think they are gods gift to man or woman. Its about time they the players face up to the hard facts, there is no free lunch, and everythink has to be paid for.
I would of thought that every player had at leased medical insurrance from one of the big three.V.H.I. BUBA VIVAS.
But it apears not.the old cleque the club will pay.or the some benefactor will provide out of his pocket.Well that may of happen in the pased, but today no.
so for the last time players please get your heads out of the sand!!!
Mayo has a decent record against Donegal, save for that poor performance in 2005. Away win!!;) :D :ball:
they seem to have built up a bit of momentum and theres a fair bit of belief in themselves at the moment so i don't see why they wouldn't be able to pull a decent result out of the trip.all the lads are really playing for the cause at present also.mayo to win 2-1.2-0 if the defence keeps up its recent excellent record!
i think it might be tough this weekend - a number of players out for a number of reasons but hopefully they still get a win, it is also Ciaran Kelly last game for Mayo before he moves to better things - good luck to him - fine keeper
