Game over, well done to drogs and well in there Garto ;)
4 out of 4 through the first round in Europe.
is this the best ever performance by the eircom League?
Wonder what Keely, Matthews have to say about it?
A night for penalties for eL clubs in Europe!
Derry scored a pen, Drogs scored 2 ET pens and Gothenburg had a penalty awarded and then taken off them!!!
Woooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooo Unbelievable. Is that 2 points to our co-ef too tonight , well 2 divided by 3 :)
Oh sweet jesus. Fella, we all know the scores from Corks past matches against Swedish opposition...he posted the same info in the thread from the first leg FFS. Its not that important a point that we needed a reprise after the second leg. Now, do you wanna have a wee look at it from another angle?Quote:

I was wrong- extra-time does in fact count towards co-efficients.
F/T .3 teams through the 1st round, all unseeded and against teams ranked much higher than us. Who says Summer Football is not working:p Hopefully we'll beat the 1.8 from last year as we've at least 5 games left in europe.
Longford/Pats/Sligo clubs/fans. Also Alan Matthews, and Dermot Keely.Quote:

Not aware of anyone from Pats saying Summer Football isn't working, certainly not from a european results point of view at any rate. Anyway congratulations to Derry and Drogheda, brilliant results. Great night for the league. Is there just one more round before the group stages in the UEFA Cup ? Oh, and something else just occurred to me. If RTE, or any of the Republics stations wont show Derrys european games, would BBC NI not be interested ? (I won't even bother mentioning UTV)
Well done to Derry and Drogs!Hope they get the coverage they deserve in the press tommorow
yes great stuff from rte radio one fair play....Bet rte, Setanta and tg4 are disappointed that they didnt televise either game........Great night to be a League Of Ireland fan.........Im so Proud.....Quote:

Brilliant results - a total disgrace that one of these games wasnt on TV. I listened on the radio - atmosphere at Dayler sounded unreal

Was at the drogs game tonight, pretty poor performance with the long-ball sh*te all game, but a win is a win and fare f*cks to them for it,unbelievable drogs crowd,at least 4000-4500 at it despite what announcer said, and well-done derry aswell, great result!
Its a super night for the league
What parts of the ground were open ?Quote:

(setanta musta been too busy showing those junior 7-a-side gaah matches...)
Drogs were awfully direct tonight and created little if anything from play, but their perseverance and their defending were exemplary, as was their hardcore support. Didn't begin to match HJK technically until Zayed was introduced but for sheer persistence deserved the win (even if the foul on Barrett which induced the second penalty looked to have taken place outside the box.)
Other scores from tonight:
Gefle 0-0 Llanelli
(Llanelli win 2-1 on agg.)
Hibernians (The Maltese Ice Cream Sellers) 1-5 Dinamo Bucuresti
(Dinamo win 9-1 on agg. - that's the way to get a result against these lot - take note)
Újpest 1-0 Vaduz (Liechtenstein)
(Vaduz win 4-1 on agg.)
Glentoran 0-1 FK Brann Bergen
(Brann Bergen win 2-0 on agg.)
BATE 1-0 Nistru Otaci
(BATE win 3-0 on agg.)
Portadown 0-1 Kaunas
(Kaunas win 4-1 on agg.)
Levadia Tallinn 0-1 FC Haka
(Levadia win 2-1 on agg.)
Rhyl 1-2 Suduva
(Suduva win 2-1 on agg.)
Yeah defo, horrible long ball stuff that didn't even work and it was outside the box,it happened right in front of me,but a win's a win so good luck next roundQuote:

Not bad so far and starting to see some consistency year after year can only bode well for the future.
