Here's why they don't show First Division games:
No TV station in the universe is going to broadcast something that's of interest to roughly 1500 people.Quote:

Ya i know.Sure as i said already the attendance for GUFC v Harps was greater than around 4 premier games.Rovers v United...probably not too far off it.Quote:

Yeah i will watch it at the end of the day not only am I a Galway united Fan but I am an eircom league fan
I don't think Dundalk have cameras mate. Either way, I'd be surprised if they featured your game.
Derry v Bohs and Pats v Drogs will dominate the discussion.
Derry 1 Bohs 0; Pats 0 Drogs 1Quote:

Not sure but why does he keep giving the post-match interviews? Does Farrelly not know what to say after a defeat?! The only interview I remember Farrelly giving was after the Waterford game
I missed it too, but a sleeveless shirt of indeterminate hue and a slightly bemused expression would seem to be surefire certainties.Quote:

I think the lads are genuine but it's very poorly done and Setanta's coverage (for all that they've far more to spend on it) is a country mile better.
Yeah it's not the most professional production... I thought it was a bad weekend for us but losing twice over the weekend was even worse!!!
With Scully there why don't they even mention the First Division? Would his lack of knowledge come out or something?!
Yes indeed alot of changes made RT. But Galway would be well equipped and would make the necessary changes at all levels to succeed in the Prem. Anyway the point I was trying to make was to do with first division coverage. We thought the same RT when we were in the first division and its the same topic again. The first division will never be covered in a highlights programme of just over 30 mins.Quote:

If there are first divison clubs doing this and not being shown on TV3 (which i doubt) then fair enough they have a case. But if clubs dont take it upon themselves to do it themselves, then no point complaining about it. things wont change - the first division will never be fully covered and nor will it be.
The league's concern should be that it's only getting 30 mins of exposure per week., which isnt even hitting a prime audience. TV3 would be better pre-recording on Mondays and airing the show earlier on a Tuesday night.
Nice comment from Genesis...
So I suppose we should be grateful to have eircom League Weekly because it's more than we deserve[EXCLAMATION MARK!]:rolleyes:Quote:
23. There should be a camera at EVERY premier game. Why was this not mentioned?
I would like to see the grounds full first and then the cameras will have to follow!
There was so UCD v Bray. Not sure if it's our fault or theirs. Well, that's assuming you accept a club can be at fault for not sending footage to them. I can't recall if there was a camera there. Don't see why there shouldn't have been. 5 goals missed.
IMO the camera qualities are so poor tv just prefer to show a few decent clips & spent the rest of the time talking. Most highlight shows of other leagues focus on action.
They done that with the Drogheda match - showed some scrappy play in the middle of the park ffsQuote:

Kinger is an entertainer :D
From what i can see the there would have to be an enourmous jump in budget for this show to be "match of the day style". The camera work etc is shocking at present so i dont think it would be feasible to show anything other than the main highlights from the games. In fairness they are not getting much to work with there were poor crowds at all of the last four el premier games. I would imagine tv3 view this show as something going out to a minority interest who should be happy that it is on the television in the first place. They should stop talking about betting as well. They obviously know damn all seen as drogheda are a "brilliant price" at 11/4 on paddy power when they are 5/1 at ladbrokes this morning.
Was it on last night??
No it's on tonight and it clashes with BBC 1 N.Ireland's broadcast of Gary Lineker's interview with Diego Maradona :(
Thanks :)Quote:

Oh when are Waterford and Sligo gonna get proper gantries facing the stand? It looks absolutely amateurish.
KOH
What were the nominations? Molloy get one?
Yep, he got one.
Derry goal V Waterford
O'Neill V UCD
John O'Flynn (at TC but can't remember the opposition)
There were 6 put I can't remember the other two
The Derry goal or the junkie will it, two great goals but I would'nt be surprised if Neiler won it :)
Tadhg Purcell's goal of the millenium header against Kildare was also there...
You have a good stand. Why not show the best feature in the ground? Cameras should not be in with the fans for obvious reasons. Your answer is childish..........
KOH
Would be nice to get a new gantry on the far side RT though and it would show the club in a better light to the general public.
There aren't any (or many, at least) fans on the far side - that's the whole point! TV3 once announced highlights of a Sligo game played in front of Sligo's biggest crowd of the season, and then showed the crappy far stand with five people in it. Then Sligo scored, and everyone started getting in the way of the camera. It's quite clearly a nonsense scenario. How much would it cost to stick up a small gantry at the far side?
Try and see the bigger picture. Gustavo does. Its not rocket science ffs. If you are trying to attract people to come to games watching highlights from Waterford and sligo will mean they'll never come. Frankly it looks awful.
KOH
Foys play to set up McT didnt look awful!!!
We do need a gantry the far side though, that way you would have the noise from Matty's singing crew, good shots of the shed and the attractiveness of a full new stand.....plus sean connor giving out to the 4th offical
Obviously it was the biggest game of the season when it was played. Which was in early 2004. Facts, RT, facts. A gantry at the other side would quite simply look far better and reflect far better on the club. The hard work is done in getting the stand there and getting it mostly full every game - why shy away from the easy bit of showing off?Quote:

The hoardings are there because that's the side the camera's on, not the other way around.Quote:

RT I think Pineapple is advocating the camera being opposite the main stand not IN it !Quote:

I think that every club in the League should have them or else none should. It is ridiculous that some clubs have them and some dont and makes the League look amateurish.
It just goes on top of the stand.Quote:
