What about Bray Cabs? Oh, no, that's taken ...
I have to say this is all pretty bizarre. Is there a precedent from another league of one club just wading in and buying another?
Seems to happen regularly in Europe, particularly in Belgium, Spain and Germany, where clubs hold matriculations, or merely the right to a league placing, so when clubs go bust, other teams buy the rights, often to bounce up a division - see FC Andorra in Spain, and how Red Bull got into the German league pyramid.
I think this is different though - that's kind of buying the defunct club's licence/league place. This seems to be the departing club buying the other one. It is strange alright.
Senior team to remain as Bray and underage LOI teams to be named Cabinteely.
Best of luck to them. Hopefully it is vibrant club going forward and competing at the top end of the league. Has to be a question as to how big a following there is in Bray. Need to get out and support the club in numbers.
Echoes of Home Farm - then a junior club - buying and usurping Drumcondra in 1972, wheh they were one of the LOI's aristocrats (albeit a struggling one) ? Though at least Home Farm won out in that name game.
It just seems like Cabo paid the St Joe's lads to leave so they could run Brays youth teams instead

Examiner saying we're looking at a 9-team second tier next season instead of 'seeking expressions of interest'.
Why would you not seek expressions of interest?
Especially given the LoI is talking of adding a dozen or so new clubs in 2023 for a third tier.
What hope does that have if it's already a foregone conclusion we can't find one new team for the second tier?
Here we go again :D Irish Sea FC ready to go at it again, their Twitter is quite active on the topic in the last few minutes

It still stinks of a persistent hoax, not sure elaborate is the right word.
Irish Sea incorporating counties not touching the Irish Sea FC
Good to see this wrapped up in a manor that provides continuity for Bray supporters.
So after all this talk of Cabo takin over Bray its going to be Bray Wanderers as per normal in the loi next season.Cabinteely will return to running underage sides. The only difference is that Pat Devlin and Eddie Gormley return to Bray as manager and coach.
So this Irish sea crowd who on earth are they??
Cabo did take over Bray. What name they use is their own business. Hopefully the combined entity will be well funded and provide a stable base to ensure they challenge for promotion.

No new team next year to replace Cabinteely.
I look forward to Denis Leuken's considered musings on this update. :)
I wonder has the third tier talk led to this.
