Was very impressed with his Metropolitan Oval Academy sides. Played a lovely style of cricket.

It’s a bit out there as an appointment. It could be a masterstroke but it definitely has a risk factor attached.
I genuinely think there are probably people posting on here that, on the surface, would be better qualified for the job.
This is just nonsense. At the very least you should be appointing someone who has some experience of coaching/managing a men’s team.
John Sheridan wasn't far wrong maybe!
Bill is picking the team this guy is head coach.
If Dundalk win their last 9 matches they could still win the league otherwise I would be worried if I was a Dundalk supporter about next years budget and all the players out of contract with no CL money to come.
I don't see how appointing a guy with no experience of running a mens team is going to motivate the players or convince them they have a future.
But mocking is catching , q the run of wins that makes Bill look like a genius
I still havent recovered from the last Dundalk manager that had a dodgy moustache....

The piece on RTE is like a Waterford Whispers article.
Which Giuseppe Rossi is assisting him?
Not that one.
This is absolutely brilliant.
That's taken the wind out of John Sheridan's sails.
'Filippo who, mate? Never heard of him' just doesn't cut it as classic bantzTM when nobody else has either.
Apart from that I can see no problems with this appointment at all. Nope. Nosiree.
This can't be real
This might be the funniest thing to happen in the League in years.
We might be very thanful for the shortened season after all!
The Yanks are hardly out to deliberately sabotage themselves.
There must be some logic or connection with this guy that gives them the belief at a shot at a run in Europe or a sustained winning run to get back into the league.
If they had given up completely on Vinnie as appears to be the case maybe they reckon spin the dice it cant go worse anyway.
If it was a cut and run then why not just leave Giller and Reynolds in charge , cost them less then the new Italian Stalions.
Has he done anything else apart from run a summer camp ?
He was Director of Coaching at Metropolitan Oval Academy in New York. It's a youth club (up to U14s) per wikipedia.
His profile is on their site from when he was appointed in 2015. It mentions a few Italian clubs he's coached at, but they seem to be amateur clubs of the level which means they don't have an English-language wiki page.
Edit - actually, Sansovino are in the Eccellenza, the fifth tier. I think the other clubs must be below that level so.

Wasn't Burton already at Dundalk if so what regulations stopped him from taking the job ?
I wonder are Dundalk stepping into Athlone's Chinese shadow role? Beware of weird betting patterns. Has due diligence been done? Can the FAI refuse the appointment on Covid -19 grounds. Isolation for 14 days or this is not a joke but a real life or death situation.
Fair play to them anyway keeping it interesting
Dundalk players must be buzzing. All will receive a club branded water bottle, football and a certificate at the end of the weeks training.
Buffalo Bill is picking the team I take it he knew this lad from his time in the States somehow and he can now use him as a puppet. Dundalk in big bother
How would they even know of him or decide on him?
He's hardly applying for the job with his CV.

Interesting read there,.
Worrying for Dundalk fans I'd say, when coupled with the summer camp maestro.
You've missed a signifcant amount of well explained info so! The mention of the win rate % was just for comparative reasons, an irony, where Perth was sacked with a better relative record than Kenney.
A “kamikaze mission” according to the new gaffer.
Time to start planning who will take Dundalk’s league place next year. An extra team promoted and a Derry City 2 into 1st Div I go for.
Is it a requirement on this forum that every dundalk related post requires fellation from a Longford fan?
For what it's worth, I thought it was a pretty fascinating read.
Mad insight into the mental few months at Dundalk.
It's only going to get more fun really.
yeah , good read alright, he might find himself banned again.
I had no idea James Rogers was banned by Dundalk. This is way better reading than you would get from the LOI tabloid journalists. Superb read! The whole thing is a mess. Who would want the poisoned chalice?
Daniel McDonnell in the Indo reporting yer man has referred to taking charge as a kamikaze mission, and asked friends to pray for him.
I'm not sure why he doesn't just decline tbh. How much money would it take to move an Italian from New York to Dundalk to make a tit of himself?
This is nudging towards Bray levels of daftness
John Gill has left now.
