Our song will be number 22, fourth from last. It provides a great chance to qualify for the final, so hopefully we can take advantage of it. :) Austria will be first, Poland will be 25th and last. The first qualifier to be announced in the semi-final, will open the final. Javine competing for the UK, will be 2nd. France will perform the 24th and final song in Eurovision 2005.Quote:

It is possible, that we might claim one of them.
The Mc Cauls are up against it big time. It's a bit like the current Athlone Town team playing in the UEFA Cup... right Sir hamish? But good luck to them.
The gimmick of having Irish dancing during the short instrumental breaks could work the oracle and get them in the final.
After all take the dancing and the sexy costume of the singer from last years winning entry and you were left with a pathetic excuse for a piece of music.
The McCauls song is Ireland's strongest entry for about 5 years. It is still sh1te but more acceptable than some of the recent efforts.

over the last few years, it has become extremely cringy and cheesy, it is terribile terrible stuff. people will look back on it in 10 years as say how did we ever watch that. it will be like the 80's with the gammy clothes.
Shocking indeed, the voting is a joke, but it has to be watched, people are even tipping the Norwegian rockers to do it this year! :eek: Norway = Nul points usually. :D Nobody in Europe takes it seriously, I am just horrified that Ireland is sending such a poor song, the lyrics are as if written by a child. They are re-working the song again after their performance on RTE recently in which made me want to vomit. The boy cannot and will NOT ever be able to dance....... :p

I never pretended I don't watch it ;) It may sound strange for a goth fan, but I do watch Eurovision every year, it's a tradition since childhood years for me. I first watched it in 1991 when I was 9 years, and never skipped a year.

Watched the competition videos on RTE. They showed their contempt for the semi-final by only showing a segment of the semi-finalists songs, with the exception of Ireland, obviously, which was left to last. All of the finalists songs were shown in full. Like I said earlier, it will be almost impossible for us to win, but we should be guaranteed the most votes from the British in the semi-final, giving us 12 points at least. I expect most of the Balkan/Baltic bloc countries to qualify, regardless of the quality of the song. But Greece, Turkey, and Cyprus are all in the final, so it frees up some qualifying places for other countries. The voting used to be the most exciting part of Eurovision, now it's the least, due to all the political voting going on.
Among the favourites to win are Spain who have 3 Andalucian Flamenco dancers and a catchy song straight out of the Las Ketchup mode, and UK. Greece are also among the favourites to win, and have a great chance, as their song has everything. An upbeat song, great choreography, A Meditteranean flavour, English language, a pretty girl, and plenty of neighbours for votes. Among the no hopers however, are Andorra, Holland, Belgium, Bulgaria, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Israel, Monaco, Mary Harney lookalike Chiara, from Malta, and surprisingly Sweden, who normally send a good song to Eurovision, but not so this year. The Bushwhackers among the audience, will like Russia's entry, Nobody Hurt No One.
Ireland's next rehearsal will be the first semi-final dress rehearsal on Tuesday.
Apparently the dancers fell off a table the other day but wernt injured!
favourite part of the Eurovision by far is the voting? Any idea anyone what time the voting finishes at cos finish my bar shift at 10, and wouldnt mind catching the votes bit...
