Since Derry won Premier in 1997 only Rovers have broken monopoly of shels, bohs & cork city in top 2.
Will anyone besides shels, bohs & cork city trio make the top 2 this season?
Only when I looked that archive on fai.ie did i realise league not as competitive as we usually think...
Pats won the league in 97/98, 98/99 and nearly won it the year of the registration feck up, they may have finished second that year, was it 2000 or 2001?Quote:

Don't worry, all these teams play in red, sometimes a sleepy mind finds it hard to differentiate. It'll be interesting to see though if the usual suspects in Bohs, Cork and Shels occupy the top three or can the Drogs get in there again or even Longford seperate them. Maybe even a resurgence from Pats or Shams, or a surprise from one of the rest of us. Can't wait for the new season.Quote:

easy tiger, last i heard it was ok to have an opinion... id actually love to see yiz come up- the more regional teams the better, and id love to be able to catch a few el prem matches in the showgrounds, its a better ground than many of the premier sides have. but as far as ive seen, and funnily enough i was at that match, yiz are not gonna be gud enough this year.Quote:

The predicted demise of Bohs is ridiculous.
Farrelly is a class act who will make a big impact, and some good players have been brought in. The likes of Hawkins and Lynch are diabolical players who Bohs are far better off without.
It's amazing to see people predict finishes as low as 6th. Bohs behind the likes of Drogheda, Cork, Longford or Waterford? Are you having a laugh? ? ?
Aye and crowe was ****e too. 6th is not gonna happen but 4th or 5th could be on the cardsQuote:

No real back up either. You'll be in the top four but wont be one of the challengers for the league imo.Quote:

Hardly. They were fifth last year, IIRC, so 2nd, with UCD, Harps and Bray gone, is hardly impossible, regardless of what Discontinuity Home Farm bring to it.Quote:

FAI CUP - Dwogheda
LEAGUE CUP - Derry
SETANTA CUP - Longford Town to beat Cork
How the Sindo sees it (paraphrasing here)...
Bohs - If they get a goalscorer, they could challenge
Bray - Relegation condidates
Cork - Near, but not quite good enough
Derry - Top half
Drogs - Signings don't inspire confidence; also-rans
Harps - Nothing special; relegation candidates
Longford - Small part-time squad; relegation candidates (getting deja vu yet? :) ) if they get hit by injuries
Rovers - Tallaght could open in the First Division
Shels - Should win title
Pat's - Mid-table at best
UCD - Might escape relegation if Dupuy does well
Waterford - May flirt with relegation
So that's half the league down in the relegation battle! Talk about sitting on the fence!
Sorry but cant see us as relegation candidates. and we have a BIG squad.Quote:

While I hope it won't come to that, I can't see us, or just about any other Premier Division side losing a playoff. The standard of what's left in the first division is pretty awful and the top scorers outside of the promoted sides have (I think) all been signed by Premier Division sides.Quote:
