Thats a big shout and while based on 2 recent games it could be argued but over a season?

I said in my first post, it wasn't a factor or an excuse for us losing. But I really don't buy into it being the same for both teams either. It was clear that Dundalk's defence were more aware of whatever you do don't let it bounce, whereas Town defenders were treating through balls as they would on a grass pitch. Going on the 3/4's of the pitch I could actually see.
That and the conditions of the away terrace are old news to most premier clubs, but it was still a shock to me just how bad Oriel is. Makes a mockery of the hoops that teams looking to join the league are expected to jump through regarding facilities to be honest.
Drogs leading Bray Wanderers 1-0. Daryl Kavanagh already scoring for them. He could prove to be an inspired signing if Drogs can keep him on the straight and narrow.
I'll tell you all who isn't better than Pats, Limerick...
My god they were beyond cat. Decent enough crowd at the match, I'd say it'll be cut in half by the time they play Longford at home.
Ya I reckon 350 max for Longford game.
Absolutely buzzing after that 95th minute equalizer.. poor game in difficult conditions a point each was fair and something I would've taken before the game
96th minute.......
Thought we deserved to win but it was a poor enough game
Bring back winter football.
Think you've taken my comment to heart everyone knows we set out to frustrate and that's exactly what we done, excellent tactical effort from us and only for Rogers save we would have been rewarded. Dundalk could have scored 1 or 2 more yes but overall they were extremely poor as a lot of fans have said on here
Always hard to have two points snatched away like that, but what with losing Henderson last week, not having Cretaro or Wearen, and having to use a substitution on the keeper, it could be worse.
I for one was sceptical as I was fearing a thrashin.. Except for the goal, I thought we played well especially in the second half. I was impressed with Martin Deady or Deadinho as I now call him! He was a terrier in midfield and held his own well! He reminds me of Billy Bremner! Skinner also played well . Shaw only got into the game once Sully came on. I thought we were unlucky not to get a point.
As for the away end it was shocking. We werent even allowed into the bar underneath the stand! Why? That was the first time I have being in that away end as I was always in the main stand or in the Ultra stand.
considerin all our complainin after 7 long years I propose changin certain lyrics of what we sing at matches!
WE HAVE BEIN SEVEN YRS AWAY WE GO UP WE COMPLAIN!
DAVE SULLIVAN IS THE WHITE PELE!
I thought Deady struggled a little to be honest. The pace of the game caught him out I think but that's understandable as he's never played Premier Division as far as I'm aware. He is a worker though and has a good touch so he should grow into it hopefully. Of the new lads I was quite impressed with Powell and Ben Mohamed has a trick or two that could come in handy. Pleased for Willie Tyrell who did well at CB after a long injury lay off too.
Longford fans could have saved themselves a lot of typing time by just quoting other fans Oriel comments over the last few years! Anyway welcome back to the premier, you're certainly making yourselves heard. Looking forward to my trip to the CCS, hope it's not raining though and the pitch has no divots or bumps, would hate to have to come on here and complain about the obvious!
God knows I'm not a fan of the pitch at oriel but for crying out loud I'm sick of hearing about it at this stage.. I suggest a temporary forum ban for people who mention it anymore.. or create a thread on its own where people voice their complaints so it won't spill over into every other thread on here
Well at least when ye come down ye might get some food and water, more than what we had!
In fairness though lads, that pitch up there in Dundalk... Shocking!
Champ10ns! :)
Good! Shrewd move maximising home advantage. Not unlike clubs not cutting the grass (or watering or not watering the pitch... snigger) v teams who like the ball on the deck. No excuses for the standard of the away terrace, it needs investment. There was a time where access to the bar was allowed from the away terrace but unruly behaviour by certain clubs' supporters put a stop to that. Also letting people on the terrace in to the stand in poor weather was also stopped due to an unfortunate accident in the stand a previous season.
This is in today's Sunday Times....

The away section is a disgrace and is in urgent need of an upgrade. However as mentioned before this won't happen until the club get ownership of the lease sorted, then they can apply for sports and capital grants, to add to their own funding and make proper structural improvements. A much better idea would be to build a new covered terrace behind the goal close to the away section. The same place where the temporary stand was put up for the EA Sports Cup final and the final league game v Cork.
However it's still worth nothing that there are around 100 seats, possibly just less, reserved for away fans at the front on the stand, and there are always away fans sitting in other parts of the stand.
I was in the stand myself. €20 is steep enough, €15 for OAPs too. Still it was a good trip all in all. Hadn't been there before.
I have no problems in Oriel in general just the condition. It was only my fourth trip and my first since early 08. Dundalk fans are amongst the friendliest in the land and I shared a house in Carrick On Shannon where I worked with who he and his family are huge Dundalk Fans !
