McGreagor, Aldo heating up for 194.

It's going to be a hell of a night of fights. I'm really looking forward to Nelson v Maia and I think Gunni will upset the odds and stake his claim as a serious contender. Rockholt could well upset Weidman in the co-main event too, I think he has the power and the control to really hurt Weidman and get the finish. I've been a bit on the fence about McGregor but the closer it comes to fight night the more convinced I am he's going to get the job done, he seems incredibly relaxed, looks in much better physical shape that the Mendes fight and Aldo looks very tense and wound up.
My best mystic Mac prediction is about 2 mins into round one McGregor checks an Aldo inside leg kick and counters with his left hook, stagger Aldo, follows up with a right and another left, sends Aldo to the canvas and rains down ground and pound until big John McCarthy waves it off at 2 mins 49 seconds of round 1!
In the more boring alternative it's a very cagey fight that goes the distance and Aldo takes a narrow points decision as McGregor slows in the championship rounds and he repeatedly gets take to the ground.
I think pretty much everything McGregor has done is to mess with Aldo's head. Aldo came to the press conference in his full suit (allegedly wearing inserts in his shoes to boost his height) fully expecting McGregor in flash, big mouth, confrontation mode, only to find a chilled out McGregor in casual gear with no interest in aggressive confrontation whatsoever. I never really believed McGregor had got to Aldo mentally but watching the embedded and seeing Aldo's camp persistently describe McGregor as a madman, and Aldo looking so stiff and uncomfortable I really think his head might be gone.
Devils advocate: Do you really think the press conferences aren't completely scripted by Dana?
I dunno much about this UFC business but I remember Aldo on the touchline against Mexico in '94. Not to best messed with. John by k.o.
Any decent streams for the fight tonight?
Ok. Aldo is crying. Like...he is actually crying.
Conor rules.
You can love him or hate him. But we have to be real. He is Mike Tyson, at his weight class. Mike Tyson.
That is the most horrific tattoo in the world btw. But, who cares? At this point he is Oscar and Tyson rolled into one.
I wasn't too far wrong! Incredible to beat a legend like Aldo in that manner, freakish timing and power in that left hand.
I watched the first undercard...blinked...and it was 7am. Ffs.
I was also really drunk though so I don't actually remember the fight I saw. Nor do I remember asking for a decent stream. My plan backfired spectacularly.
I think he should fight Rousey I mean Holly Holm next.
Supreme athlete. Born winner. Pure charisma. An Irish rarity not seen since Sonia O'Sullivan.
I thought that was a load of b****, but then i am a boxing fan...............:)
I drank way too much on sat night watching that....felt awful yesterday. Serious cleanse coming up.
Had to get to the bar too early. :(
Day three of healthy living. Still not there yet.
Anyone watching Duffy v Poirer tonight? This better be worth staying up for. I'm not even a UFC fan but find myself watching it just because Duffy is from Donegal.
Oh well.
Was a good fight. Duffy maybe a little bit of stage fright in Vegas for the first time. He looked similar in his first fight back in Cage Warriors (although he did manage to win that). Think he'll go on a good run now and will probably be top 10 in the rankings next year.
There's been a lot of press about how he is the anti McGregor....
March 5 Las Vegas 197
McGregor moves up to 155 Lbs to fight Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight belt.
Holly Holm takes on the boring Meisha Tate.
MGM Grand or Mandalay Bay. Book your rooms now. ill be staying at Paris of course.
Not happy with Mayweather race talk.

So who else watched?
Surprised the lack of talk in here.
Anyway This photo from the night is just wonderful.

This chat on the Herd is great too:
Smashing fight. Was well worth staying up for. Interesting to see where he goes next, reckon most likely gives up the 145 belt and fights for 155.
The Herd video I linkedto above is well worth a watch:
"What we witnessed on Saturday evening folks, was the death of boxing"

Diaz has zoomed up in my estimation after this. Just a class act in the ring all-round the pair of them.
Woke up at 5am and tuned in from the end of the first round. Superb fight and both of those lads ooze class.
Anyone see this? I am pretty sure I have given and taken better punches than this.

McGregor is the only reason Pendred and Ward ever got a shot in the UFC, right?
I'm not on about the Ghanaian lad. I'm on about the Ward fella. His punches - and general technique - is like something you would see in a scuffle in Supermacs at 3 in the morning.
I'd question how he got this far TBH. Probably the association with McGregor.
Hard to know what you're on about really.
I'm sure the SBG association helps. But you don't just get into UFC because of association. Kinda dangerous.
But you're Irish perhaps you could use that association to get into the UFC. Wouldn't mind seeing you in there with Pendred or Ward.
In fairness, Ward looked really unfit and did really look like he was way out of his depth. Does make you wonder how he managed to get onto that card, but at the end of the day, I'm far from an expert on the subject so I could be way off the mark.
It was a decent night of fights. Pretty good atmosphere, nice mix of knockouts, subs and decisions. Ward was outclassed by a striker who's had 7 knockout wins and never had a fight last more than 86 seconds. I wouldn't say he looked unfit but he was probably a bit naive to get into a slugfest with a guy like that. If he gets another shot in the UFC he'll be hoping for a better match up. Rumoured the UFC don't want "McGregor management" getting too much power so wanted to give him a bad fight.
Well...Amanda Nunes has won. Ronda Rousey is no more. (UFC Wise).
Looks like the McGregor v Mayweather fight is officially on. Both just tweeted about it.
It's set for the 26th of August.
I can only see McGregor being systematically dismantled by Mayweather.
He might string him along for a few rounds. Will it be $150 bucks? I was listening to the Showtime guy on the radio this morning. It doesn't seem like anything else will be on the card. They considered doing another UFC vs Boxer but its doesn't look like they can. I'm really skeptical if this is going to be real or arranged WWE style.
